How do we know that we are lacking in righteousness?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible affirms that all men and women are inherently sinful and fall short of God's glory.

According to Scripture, notably Romans 3:23, all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. In the context of Daniel 5, King Belshazzar's experience illustrates this reality: when weighed in the balances of God's judgment, he was found lacking. This reflects the universal truth of humanity's sinful nature and inability to attain righteousness on their own. The only hope for sinners is to rely on the righteousness of Christ, who fulfills the standard required by God.
