How do we know that we need Christ for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The law reveals our sin and our desperate need for Christ as our only means of salvation.

The purpose of the law, as stated in Romans 3:20, is to bring knowledge of sin. It acts as a mirror, reflecting our inability to meet God’s perfect standard. The realization that we cannot achieve righteousness through our efforts drives us to seek Christ, who is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes (Romans 10:4). By exposing our failures, the law reminds us of our need for a Savior, leading us to depend entirely on Christ's perfect righteousness and sacrifice, recognizing that salvation is a gift of God's grace (Ephesians 2:8-9).
