How do we know the necessity of sacrifice for sin?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that sin incurs a debt that must be paid, and a sacrifice is necessary for atonement, as death is the penalty for sin.

The necessity of sacrifice for sin is rooted in the understanding that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Throughout Scripture, particularly in Leviticus, it is demonstrated that the shedding of blood is required for atonement. This is not due to the innocence of the animal but because it fulfills God's justice, allowing sinners to be reconciled to Him. The death of the sacrificial animal foreshadows the ultimate sacrifice of Christ, whose death was necessary to pay the penalty for the sins of His people and grant us forgiveness.
