How do we know who Jesus died for?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus explicitly stated He died for His sheep, referring to His elect (John 10:15).

In John 10:15, Christ affirms, 'I lay down my life for the sheep.' This statement makes it clear that His death is intentional and particular, geared towards those whom the Father has given Him, the elect. The distinction between sheep and goats throughout Scripture signifies that not all people are recipients of His redemptive work; only His chosen ones, who exhibit faith in Him, can be assured of His sacrifice applied to them. This notion is central to sovereign grace theology, reflecting God's ultimate sovereignty over salvation.
