How do we know worshiping God in the Spirit is true worship?

Answered in 1 source

We know it is true worship when it aligns with God's self-revelation in Scripture and arises from a sincere, regenerated heart.

True worship is defined within the context of who God is as revealed in the Scriptures, particularly through Christ. In John 4:24, Jesus emphasizes that God is spirit, and those who worship Him must do so in spirit and truth. This means our worship cannot rely on physical representations or mere rituals but must come from a heart transformed by the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, worshiping God in the Spirit is a manifestation of our acceptance of Christ's righteousness, as outlined in Hebrews 10:19-22. Through Christ’s sacrificial work, believers are granted access to the Father and can engage in genuine worship marked by gratitude and reverence. Thus, true worship is rooted in a relationship with Christ, acknowledging that our righteousness before God is solely based on Him.
