How do we understand repentance in light of God's grace?

Answered in 1 source

Repentance is a gift from God, granted to His elect, that leads to an acknowledgment of truth and faith in Christ.

Repentance is not merely an emotional response but a sovereigngift of God. In Acts 5:31, it's noted that God gives repentance to Israel for forgiveness of sins. This shows that repentance is integral to salvation and is bestowed upon those whom God has chosen. The transformation involves a change in heart and knowledge of the truth, recognizing Christ as the only righteousness we can rely on. Thus, repentance is deeply connected with grace, as it is something we cannot achieve through our efforts but is a divine act accomplished by the Holy Spirit.
