How does God comfort His people in times of darkness?

Answered in 1 source

God comforts His people by assuring them of His presence, mercy, and the hope of redemption.

In times of darkness and despair, God's promises provide profound comfort and assurance for His people. He declares that despite our feelings of abandonment or oppression, His covenant faithfulness remains unchanged. Isaiah reminds believers that God has not forgotten them; He actively remembers and graces those who seek Him. The comfort comes from understanding that our salvation is secure in Christ, who substitutes for our sins and satisfies God’s justice on our behalf. Furthermore, the promise of eventual restoration and joy in God’s Kingdom assures believers that their trials are temporary and ultimately lead to glory. God’s reaffirmation of mercy during hardships strengthens our faith and restores our hope.
