How does idolatry affect spiritual life?

Idolatry significantly affects spiritual life by rendering individuals spiritually unresponsive and blind to the truth of God. In Psalm 135, it is stated that those who make idols become like them—dead and lifeless. This is seen in the Israelites who, despite witnessing God's miraculous deliverance, turned to a golden calf for worship, illustrating how easily one can be swayed by false representation of God.
