How does idolatry affect spiritual life?

Answered in 1 source

Idolatry leads to spiritual death and blindness, trapping individuals in false beliefs.

Idolatry significantly affects spiritual life by rendering individuals spiritually unresponsive and blind to the truth of God. In Psalm 135, it is stated that those who make idols become like them—dead and lifeless. This is seen in the Israelites who, despite witnessing God's miraculous deliverance, turned to a golden calf for worship, illustrating how easily one can be swayed by false representation of God. When people worship idols instead of the living God, they miss the fullness of life and salvation that only comes through a true knowledge of God as revealed in Scripture and fully manifested in Christ.
