How does light relate to judgment in the Christian faith?

Answered in 1 source

Light represents truth and judgment, exposing sin and revealing the need for salvation through Christ.

In Scripture, light is intrinsically linked to judgment, as it reveals truths that would otherwise remain hidden. In John 3:19-20, Jesus explains that people love darkness because their actions are evil and they fear exposure to the light. This light not only exposes sin but also points to the righteousness of Christ, the standard by which all are judged. Those who reject the light—who do not believe in Jesus—judge themselves by remaining in darkness and condemning themselves to eternal separation from God. Therefore, accepting the true light leads to salvation and the assurance of eternal life, as seen in the Gospel of John.
