How does one receive righteousness according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

Righteousness is received through faith in Jesus Christ, who is the fulfillment of the law on our behalf.

The Bible teaches that righteousness is not something we can earn, but it is a gift from God, received through faith in Christ. Romans 10:4 states, "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth." This signifies that Christ's perfect obedience to the law is credited to believers, making them righteous in the eyes of God. We understand that through the Holy Spirit's work, as one comes to realize their need for Christ, they receive righteousness and clear conscience through His sacrifice, which is provided as a free gift of grace.
