How does the gospel bring salvation according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

The gospel, as the power of God for salvation, must be communicated for individuals to hear and believe (Romans 10:17).

The Apostle Paul asserts in Romans 1:16 that the gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. For a person to believe, they must first hear the gospel, which underscores the importance of preaching. Romans 10:17 states, 'So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.' This highlights that genuine faith is a response to the truth of the gospel message—the life, death, and resurrection of Christ. Only through hearing the gospel, which reveals our sin and Christ's sufficiency as savior, can individuals be drawn by the Holy Spirit to believe and receive salvation.
