What do Christ's tears teach us about our own response to sin?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's tears teach us that our response to sin should be one of heartfelt sorrow and compassion towards others.

The tears of Christ serve as an example for how we should view and respond to our own sin and the sins of others. His weeping demonstrates that sin has devastating consequences, not just for the individual but for communities and nations as well (Romans 5:12). When we consider our own shortcomings and the plight of those around us, we should recognize the gravity of sin's effects. Rather than adopting a cold or aloof attitude towards those who stumble, Christ’s example calls us to cultivate a spirit of compassion and a willingness to help others find healing in Him. His tears over Jerusalem, despite knowing their future rejection, remind us that every soul matters, and we should engage with a mixture of sorrow and hope in our interactions with the lost. Thus, we are encouraged to approach sin with humility and a desire to point others toward the mercy and grace that is found in Christ.
