What does it mean that Christ bore our sins?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's bearing our sins means He took our guilt and punishment upon Himself, fulfilling God's justice.

To say that Christ bore our sins is to acknowledge that He took upon Himself the full weight of our guilt and the consequences of our sin. This was a substitutionary act where He, who knew no sin, became sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21), allowing us to be justified before God. As highlighted in Isaiah 53, He was counted among transgressors and bore the iniquities of many, which indicates that His suffering was vicarious. Thus, believers can confidently rest in the truth that due to Christ's sacrifice and His bearing our sins, we are liberated from the punishment we rightfully deserve.
