What does the Bible say about God's law and grace?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that God's law must be honored before His grace and mercy can be shown.

In Exodus 34, God reminds Moses of His law before revealing His graciousness and mercy. This indicates that God will never bypass His justice; He must satisfy the demands of the law. In order for grace and mercy to be effectively communicated, there must first be an acknowledgment and honoring of God's law. God’s law is not mere guidelines but a holy standard He has established, and any transgression incurs the need for justice. Therefore, the grace of God is rooted in this understanding of His law; it highlights the absolute need for a Savior, as we cannot fulfill the law's requirements ourselves.
