What does the Bible say about Jesus as the perfect priest?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus is the perfect priest who offered Himself as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, fulfilling the roles of king and prophet as well.

In the Bible, particularly in the New Testament, Jesus is identified as the perfect priest who completed the redemptive work necessary for salvation. As both king and prophet, He uniquely fulfills these roles to reconcile humanity with God. In contrast to the Old Testament priests who repeatedly offered sacrifices, Jesus, as the high priest, offered Himself once for all as the perfect sacrifice for sin. Hebrews 9:26 states that He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself, emphasizing the completeness and finality of His atoning work. This act not only secured our redemption but also established Him as our advocate who continually intercedes on our behalf.
