What does the Bible say about our friendship with Jesus?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that Jesus is a friend of sinners and calls His people friends through grace.

In the Scriptures, Jesus describes His relationship with believers in terms of friendship. In John 15:15, He says, 'I no longer call you servants... instead, I have called you friends.' This friendship is rooted in His grace, as He befriends us despite our sinful nature. Like Lazarus, who was referred to as 'our friend' by Jesus, we are welcomed into a close relationship with Him through His sacrifice and love. He loves us unconditionally, and through His grace, we are made His 'Theophiluses'—beloved of the Lord.
