What does the Bible say about the concept of pilgrimage?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that true pilgrimage for Christians is to continually come to Christ for rest, rather than a physical journey.

In the biblical context, pilgrimage doesn't refer to a geographic journey to sacred sites as seen in other religions. Instead, true pilgrimage is a continual approach to Jesus Christ. Matthew 11:28 invites those who labor and are heavy laden to come to Him for rest. This pilgrimage reflects a spiritual journey, coming to Christ in faith to find solace, hope, and acceptance in Him, rather than relying on our own works or efforts.
