What ensures believers' confidence on the day of judgment?

Answered in 1 source

Believers have confidence on judgment day because they are justified by Christ's righteousness (1 John 4:17).

For believers, the day of judgment brings not fear but confidence, as articulated in 1 John 4:17, which states that we may have boldness in the day of judgment because as He is, so are we in this world. This confidence arises from the believer's union with Christ, through whom their sins are forgiven, and righteousness is imputed. Knowing that their justification is secured by faith in Christ fundamentally changes how they approach judgment; instead of dread, they can expect acceptance and inheritance of the eternal kingdom prepared for them from the foundation of the world.
