What is the definition of faith in Christianity?

Answered in 1 source

In Christianity, faith is defined as trusting in Christ alone while forsaking all other efforts for salvation.

Faith in a Christian context can be defined as a firm persuasion and expectation based upon the Word of God that the Lord will fulfill all His promises through Jesus Christ. The definition goes beyond mere belief; it encompasses a complete reliance on Christ and a relinquishment of self-confidence in our works. This is explicitly illustrated in the concept of ‘trusting Him’ while turning away from any basis of personal merit. Genuine faith produces a lifestyle of worship and obedience and recognizes that salvation is solely the work of grace.
