What is the definition of faith in Christianity?

Faith in a Christian context can be defined as a firm persuasion and expectation based upon the Word of God that the Lord will fulfill all His promises through Jesus Christ. The definition goes beyond mere belief; it encompasses a complete reliance on Christ and a relinquishment of self-confidence in our works.
