What is the difference between imputed and infused righteousness?

Answered in 1 source

Imputed righteousness is credited to believers through faith, while infused righteousness suggests a quality of righteousness developed within individuals.

Imputed righteousness is a foundational doctrine in Reformed theology, where God declares sinners righteous based on their faith in Christ's atoning sacrifice. This is clearly seen in 2 Corinthians 5:21, where it states, 'For our sake, He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.' In contrast, infused righteousness, associated with Roman Catholic teaching, implies that righteousness is gradually conferred and developed in a believer through their actions. The Apostle Paul consistently warns against this misunderstanding, affirming that our only hope for righteousness is found outside ourselves in Christ.
