What role does Christ play in my righteousness before God?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is the source of our righteousness by taking on our sins and providing His perfect righteousness through faith.

Christ's role in our righteousness is central to the gospel message. As stated in 2 Corinthians 5:21, 'For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.' This profound exchange means that our sins were placed upon Christ, and His righteousness is credited to us. This is not earned by our performance but received through faith. Therefore, believers find their identity and security in Christ alone, who is our righteousness and advocate before the Father. The assurance of our standing comes from our union with Him, which makes us acceptable before God.
