What role does grace play in the mortification of sin?

Answered in 1 source

Grace empowers believers to fight sin by providing them with the motivation and strength to live righteously.

Grace is the cornerstone of the Christian life and plays an essential role in the mortification of sin. It is by God's grace that sinners are saved and brought into a relationship with Christ. This same grace motivates and enables believers to resist sin and pursue holiness. The call to mortification in Colossians 3:5 is grounded in the understanding that believers are already justified and secure in Christ. Their fight against sin is fueled not by fear of condemnation, but by love and gratitude for the salvation already accomplished. Hence, the grace that saves is also the grace that transforms and empowers.
