Why is Christ's death central to Christian doctrine?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's death is central because it is the pivotal event that accomplished salvation for His people.

The death of Christ lies at the heart of the Christian faith, as it represents the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan for humanity. 1 John 1:7 affirms that the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. This is echoed in Hebrews 9:26 which teaches that Christ appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. His sacrificial death not only dealt with the penalty of sin but also secured eternal redemption for those chosen in Him before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4-5). As believers, we trust in His finished work on the cross as the sole basis for our righteousness before God.
