Why is redemption by Christ necessary for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Redemption by Christ is necessary because no one can escape the curse of the law or achieve righteousness on their own (Romans 3:23).

The necessity of Christ's redemption lies in the fact that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). As Paul explains in Romans 5:12, through one man's disobedience, sin entered into the world, and death through sin, leading all men to death. Therefore, human efforts to attain righteousness are insufficient because the law demands perfect obedience. We cannot work our way out from under this curse; we must be redeemed by Christ, who achieved what we could not.
