Why is the concept of Jesus as mediator important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus as mediator is essential for Christians because He enables direct access to God and reconciles us with the Father.

The concept of Jesus being our mediator is foundational to the Christian faith, as it confirms that He not only speaks for God but also intercedes for us (1 John 2:1). This mediation is vital because, as sinful humans, we cannot approach a holy God without a suitable advocate. Jesus fulfills this role by taking upon Himself the penalty for our sins, thus granting us the righteousness we need to be accepted by God. His mediatory work is what establishes our relationship with the Father and offers us eternal life.
