Why is the concept of total dependence on Christ important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Total dependence on Christ highlights that our spiritual well-being and salvation are entirely reliant on Him.

As illustrated in Matthew 19, Christ teaches that, akin to infants who depend entirely on their parents for sustenance and care, believers must recognize their total dependency on Him for salvation. This underscores a core tenet of sovereign grace theology: our salvation is initiated and sustained by God's sovereign will and power, rather than our human efforts or wisdom. The acknowledgment of our need for Christ places us in a humble position before God, allowing us to receive His grace joyfully and fully. Without this acknowledgment, we risk falling prey to self-sufficiency and misunderstanding the nature of true faith.
