Why must Jesus be our mediator?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus serves as our mediator because He uniquely fulfills the requirements of a perfect high priest, representing us before God.

The role of mediator is critical in Christian theology as it emphasizes the need for someone who can faithfully intercede between God and humanity. Jesus, as the God-man, is the perfect mediator as He alone understands both God's holiness and human sinfulness. This qualifies Him to make atonement for our sins, which Aaron could only symbolically do. Aaron's priestly duties were flawed due to his own sin, whereas Jesus, being sinless, perfectly fulfills God’s law on our behalf. This underscores the importance of His unique role in the salvation narrative.
