Why should we insist on the authority of Scripture in matters of faith?

Answered in 1 source

The authority of Scripture is foundational because faith must be rooted in the truth that God has revealed.

Insisting on the authority of Scripture is crucial because faith that does not rest on God's Word is essentially faith without foundation. We find in 2 Timothy 3:16 that all Scripture is God-breathed and is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness. For believers, faith must emanate from what God has disclosed about Himself and His promises. This is significantly different from subjective experiences or cultural beliefs, which can easily lead to heresy. The Bible provides the consistent truth we need to anchor our faith.
