Why will true believers not leave Christ?

Answered in 1 source

True believers will not leave Christ because they are kept by God's preserving grace and the power of the Holy Spirit.

The perseverance of true believers is grounded in God's sovereign grace and the promise that He will not let them go. In John 10:28-29, Jesus assures that no one can snatch His sheep from His hand. Those who are genuinely born of God have the Holy Spirit within them, which leads and guides them, helping them to resist the temptations that might cause them to turn away. The assurance of salvation for true believers comes from the fact that their spiritual life is rooted in Christ, and they cannot ultimately forsake Him because of the transformative work of the Holy Spirit in them.
