Warm greetings, friends, near
and far. The Lord Jesus Christ be magnified
forever and ever. His loving kindness, his tender
mercies and compassions are new every morning. Great is his faithfulness. His mercy endureth forever. This
is Senator Save coming at you with the following short evangelistic
gospel message. And God willing, this broadcast
will reach you, Lima Charlie, loud and clear. What is my hope
and prayer unto God Most High, the only Holy Father, that His
only begotten Son, Christ Jesus, the Lord our righteousness, be
greatly exalted, that His everlasting gospel be clearly proclaimed,
that the pride of mere flesh and blood men be humbled, and
that His elect saints be greatly encouraged, cheered, and comforted
in these evil and perilous times. Please consider having paper
and pencil handy to jot down the scriptural references for
your own follow-up study. And so we begin with the weekend
gospel message to follow for all hands. Heads up! Please find enclosed encouragement
in so great salvation by the perfect and finished work of
our Lord Jesus Christ in saving poor, needy, and wretched sinners
by His sovereign free grace. That is to say, Almighty God,
in His unmerited favor, to save me and you from our sins and
from hell. Save yourselves from this untoward
generation, Acts 240. Some folks with a warm zeal for
so-called free will and a strong opposition to salvation by grace
have been weak enough to cite this passage to prove that we
have a hand in our own salvation because we are here called upon
to save ourselves. They might, with equal propriety,
have inferred that we are here exhorted to newly create ourselves. But there is a sense in which
this exhortation is peculiarly applicable to every saved sinner,
every justified believer in Christ. the honor and glory of our savior
and for the peace and comfort of our souls let us attend to
it wisdom informs us there is a generation that are pure in
their own eyes and yet have not washed from their filthiness
oh how filthy are their eyes and their eyelids are lifted
up see proverbs chapter 30 verses 12 and 13 now these are at enmity
against That seed that served the Lord and which are counted
to him for a generation Psalm 22 30 it was so from the beginning
and so It is so now it ever will be so as long as two seeds or
generations are in the earth Therefore we are called upon
to save ourselves from this generation for it is untoward meaning warped
crooked perverse The men of this generation may have extensive
imaginations, profound learning, and shining abilities. They may
occupy high stations in church and state, yet they are perverse. They deride the glorious gospel,
set it not the precious savior, his perfect atonement, and one
righteousness. They see no need of, they ridicule
the operations of his spirit, and call all who pretend to them
enthusiasts. Glad are they when they can show
the untowardness of their nature and the vexatious dispensation
of their spirits against them. For such, O Christian, save yourselves. How? Refrain from their company. Despise their deistical notions. Abhor their proud, free-will,
self-righteous tenets. Defile not yourself by reading
their works. It is like trying the effects
of poison upon a healthy body. Separate from them. Come out
from amongst them. So shall you save yourself from
partaking of their evils and judgments. Know God's friends
and associate with them. Bless your precious Lord for
saving you from their untoward state, which was of his unmerited
mercy and distinguishing grace. Oh, when you read of them and
see them reflect such I was once, who made thee to differ? Thus
you will get good by them if the reflection tends to sink
your soul in humility and causes you to exalt the riches of God's
grace in Christ Jesus. dangers beset on every side from
men profane and sons of pride. Oh, keep me, Lord, by grace divine,
and make me know I'm ever thine, born from above to walk with
thee by faith that I may wholly be. Then let it be my constant
care of men untoward to beware. Good message from old-timer preacher
William Mason. Doing the works of God, question
mark. Shortly after feeding of the
5,000, the Lord Jesus was confronted by a group of eager religionists
who zealously asked, what must we do that we might work the
works of God? John 6, 28. Christ's reply is
very telling. He replies, this is the work
of God that you believe on him whom he has sent. John 6, 29. Why complicate it? To believe,
meaning to rest and trust in Christ, is to do the work of
God. Now to stir up your pure minds
by way of remembrance, In spiritual terms, there are two types of
work. There's first the work through which people attempt
to earn God's favor by doing good things. By the way, there
is nothing wrong with doing good things, but to attempt to use
them as a bargaining chip with heaven is a matter of wickedness
and folly. Nevertheless, the religionist
feels there is something he must do to turn God's heart toward
him. But listen again to what Jesus
says. He asserts, this is the work of God, that you believe
on him whom he has sent. He's making it clear that our
works cannot gain us acceptance into eternity. The second work,
the work of the believer is to rely on the work of someone else
in order to be saved. Someone else? Who is this someone
else? The someone else is the Lord
Jesus Christ, the beginning and the end, the one great sacrifice
for sins. This second kind of work reveals
that Christ Jesus is the supremely sufficient one. Pause and think
about it. In John 14, 6, Jesus announces
that He is the way. That means, according to the
Lord Jesus, there is no other way to God but by Him. In addition,
He proclaims that He is the truth, not merely a truth, but the truth
about God. Also, with complete clarity,
He declared that He is the life. That means that outside of Him,
there is only death. And furthermore, no one comes
to a revelation of the Father except by Christ. Can you trust
Him? If so, you're doing the work
of God. John 3.18. Jesus himself is our
salvation. See Acts 13.38. All thanks go
to him and his amazing grace. Because of him, we are accepted
into heaven without conditions. Although we by nature are helplessly
sinful, God in grace forgives and cleanses us entirely. It's
by his infinite grace that we are saved. Imagine if someone
were to go to King David and say what must I do that? I might
work the works of God David might reply to do the works of God.
We must fight the Philistines and cut their heads off He certainly
would have would not have replied. This is the work of God that
you believe on me. I Can't imagine any of the heroes
of the faith claiming that can you? but Jesus said this is the
work of God that you believe on me whom he has sent and By
this one statement, we have Christ's claim to absolute supremacy in
all things. In conclusion, we are saved by
Christ Jesus. We are saved, not by moral character. We are saved, not by personal
works of righteousness. We are saved, not by commandment
keeping. We are saved, not by our church
going. We are saved by the awesome,
majestic, beautiful grace of God manifest in the flesh. See
1 Timothy 3.16. And that's the gospel truth till
he comes. That was from preacher Miles
McKee. Proverbs 4, 7, Wisdom is the
principal thing, therefore get wisdom. In Joseph's visions,
the sun, moon, and the stars made obeisance to him, and all
the sheaves bowed to his sheaf. See Genesis 37, 7. So wisdom
is honored and exalted above and beyond everything beside
this This wisdom is the son of God to whom every knee shall
bow Philippians 2 10 Jesus under the character of wisdom is said
to cry to utter his voice Behold, I will pour out my spirit unto
you and and wisdom is said to enter into the heart see proverbs
1 verses 20 through 23 and also proverbs 2 10 All this can be applied to none
other but Christ who is of God made unto us wisdom. First Corinthians
1 30. He cries after us miserable sinners.
He utters his voice of love to us. He pours out his spirit upon
us. He enters into our hearts and
dwells there by faith. This truly is the principal thing.
This, infinitely above all others, demands the whole of our attention,
labor, and diligence. Get what we may, yet without
this we are not wise. We cannot be happy. We shall
be only foolish, deluded, and miserable. There will always
be a vacuum in the heart and a cry of, What lack I yet? Get wisdom. Get an interest in
Christ. What can we poor miserable sinners
do to get that? It is a foolish phrase. It is
unscriptural advice. Solomon reproves it when he asks,
wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom,
seeing he hath no heart to it? Proverbs 17, 16. As though he
had said, none but a fool thinks his own works and doings. the
price of wisdom, and that by these he is to purchase an interest
in Christ and a title to his kingdom. Such have no understanding
of the grace of Christ, no real love of Christ. He invites, come
without money and without price. See Isaiah 55.1. This is the
way to buy and get wisdom. Seek to enjoy the knowledge of
wisdom in Christ. Labor after more and more experience
of his grace and fellowship with him in your souls. Be not satisfied
not a day nor an hour without tasting his sweetness and feeling
his preciousness. Oh Jesus, I am foolish, be thou
my wisdom. I am sin, be thou my righteousness. I am poor and miserable, be thou
my riches and my consolation. I have many wants to be supplied,
many miseries to be relieved, many corruptions to be subdued,
many graces to be strengthened, many enemies to be conquered.
Oh may I possess thee in all, thy fullness tonight and forever. This is the principal thing,
the one thing needful. Let the word of Christ dwell
in you richly in all wisdom. Colossians 3.16. Jesus our wisdom Excuse me folks. Jesus thou my wisdom art make
and keep me wise of heart Theda prize above all things who to
me salvation brings What are all things here below foolish
toys and empty show may I live above with thee and thy glory
daily see Another one from preacher William Mason We read in first
Kings Chapter 21 verse 20, And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou
found me, O mine enemy? Ungodly men often count faithful
ministers to be their enemies, when indeed they are their truest
friends. We should count him our benefactor,
who has the courage to tell us unpleasant truth. And he, meaning
Elijah, answered, I have found thee, because thou hast said
of sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the Lord. Had
it not been for his iniquity, Elijah would not have troubled
the king. But because Ahab offended the Lord, therefore Elijah offended
him. In our ministry, if men's consciences
are touched, they ought not to blame the preacher, but their
sins. Excellent message there. A naked sinner can be clothed,
but a sinner covered with his own self-righteousness must be
stripped. This is always true. We must
be stripped of all that has to do with self, or we cannot be
clothed with that which pertains to God. We are called to live
by faith. We can see nothing with the eye
of sense. The Lord Jesus has gone up on
high, and we are told to wait patiently for his appearing.
God's Word carried home to the heart and the power of the Holy
Spirit is the basis of confidence in all things temporal and spiritual,
present and future. He tells us of Christ's completed
sacrifice. We by grace believe and commit
our souls to the efficacy thereof and we know we shall never be
disappointed. Great message from preacher Scott
Richardson. Trusting the Lord. Psalm 9, verse
10, they that know thy name will put their trust in thee, for
thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. The better
God is known, the more he is trusted. Those who know Him to be a God
of infinite wisdom will trust Him further than they can see
Him. Job 35, 14. Those who know Him
to be a God of almighty power will trust Him when creature
confidence fails and they have nothing else to trust to. 2 Chronicles 20, 12. Those who know Him to be a God
of infinite grace and goodness will trust Him though He slay
them. Job 13, 15. Those who know Him to be a God
of inviolable truth and faithfulness will rejoice in His word of promise
and rest upon that, though that performance be deferred, and
intermediate providences seem to contradict it. Those who know
him to be the father of spirits and an everlasting father will
trust him with their souls as their main care and trust in
him at all times, even to the end. That was from preacher Matthew
Henry. Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty,
which was and is and is to come. Come quickly, Lord Jesus Christ.
Maranatha.
