The sermon titled "Storm Warning #46" addresses the doctrine of the once-for-all sacrifice of Christ as articulated in Hebrews 9:24-26. The speakers emphasize that Christ appeared only once to put away sin through His sacrificial death, which is a pivotal assertion in Reformed theology, highlighting the sufficiency of Christ's work. Key arguments include the futility of legalism and human efforts for salvation, showcased through comparison with misguided religious practices, particularly those of the Roman Catholic Church regarding the mass. The sermon draws extensively from Scripture, particularly Hebrews 9:26, to underscore that Christ's death required no repetition, and it illustrates the finality of His work by referencing Old Testament sacrifices that were insufficient. The practical significance of the message is a call to embrace grace and accountability, emphasizing that salvation is wholly dependent on Christ’s completed work rather than human merit.

Warm greetings, friends, near
and far. The Lord Jesus Christ be magnified
forever and ever. His loving kindnesses, tender
mercies, and compassions are new every morning. Great is His
faithfulness. His mercy endureth forever. This is Sinner Saved, coming
at you with the following short evangelistic gospel message,
which is sponsored by preacher Wayne Boyd and the Brethren in
Christ at First Baptist Church, located in Almont, Michigan,
USA. And God willing, this broadcast
will reach you, Lima Charlie, loud and clear. It is my hope
and prayer unto God most high, the only Holy Father, that His
only begotten Son, Christ Jesus, the Lord our righteousness, be
greatly exalted, that His everlasting gospel be clearly proclaimed,
that the pride of mere flesh and blood men be humbled, and
that His elect saints be greatly cheered, encouraged, and comforted
in these evil and perilous times. Please consider having paper
and pencil handy to jot down the scriptural references for
your own follow-up study. And so we begin with the weekend
gospel message to follow for all hands. Heads up! Please find enclosed encouragement
in so great salvation by the perfect and finished work of
our Lord Jesus Christ in saving poor, needy, and wretched sinners
by His sovereign free grace. That is to say, Almighty God
and His unmerited favor to save me and you from our sins and
from hell. And this message is entitled,
Once! With an exclamation point. Reading
from Hebrews 9 26, but I would recommend friends Start with
Hebrews 9 verses 24 through 26 to get even fuller picture But
verse 26 for then must he speaking of Christ often have suffered
since the foundation of the world but now once in the end of the
world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of
himself and Gospel Christianity is not a matter of following
a set of rules. In fact, the gospel is not about
what we do, but rather about what Christ has already done. Unfortunately, our default mode
is one of legalism. That's why we very often lean
strongly and quietly toward rule keeping in a futile attempt to
find acceptance with God. There's an old story about a
man who fell down a well. When he called out, crying for
help, a passerby, hearing his cries, leaned over the well and
asked him what he wanted. The man said he wanted to get
out. The passerby thought for a moment and finally took out
some paper and wrote something and dropped it down into the
well. So the man picks this document
up and he reads, 10 rules on how to keep out of wells. Well,
religion is like that. It tells us that we must do something,
excuse me, to get out of the well we've fallen into. However,
this is not the gospel. The gospel tells us of a savior
who has appeared once to put away the deep well of sin by
the sacrifice of himself. Let's say this one more time
then, friends. How many times has he appeared
to put away sin? Once! Only once. Jesus was and is unique. No one
had been like him in the past, no one can match him in the present,
and no one will surpass him in the future. Of course, there
were priests and prophets back in the Old Testament times, yet
none of them could bring salvation to their people. They could not
deliver from the wrath to come, but the ultimate priest, Christ
Jesus, appeared once and saved us by his doing, dying and rising
again. There is no one like Him. No
church, no priest, no bishop, no cardinal, no pope can make
a sacrifice for our sins. Why? Because Jesus appeared once
to put away sin. His sacrifice for sin requires
no repetition. Yet according to Rome, He is
offered daily in the mass in tens of thousands of locations
all over the earth. It's an abomination. that he
needs to be offered repeatedly is a Romish fiction. As we have
said, there was no one like him and will be no one like him in
the future. He appeared to put away sin.
That means he literally abolished sin for his people. Since this
is true, we have no need to look for a new Messiah or a future
leader who will redeem us. Redemption has already been accomplished. Thank God. There is no need to
repeat the sacrifice. Jesus did not come here as an
amateur redeemer. Far from it, friends. When our
master came here, he successfully redeemed us by shedding of his
own precious blood. He appeared once and put away
our sin. It is not easy for sin to be
put away. No carnal sacrifice could do that. As the old hymn
writer once wrote, not all the blood of beasts on Jewish altars
slain could give the guilty conscience peace or wash away the stain,
but Christ the heavenly lamb takes all our sins away, a sacrifice
of nobler name and richer blood than they. His putting away of
our sins happened once. This doctrine of once needs to
be writ large on our hearts and minds. These truths about once
completely dismantle the Roman Catholic doctrine of the mass,
so-called. In the mass, Jesus Christ is
offered again and again for the sins of the people. Every time
the priest lifts the wafer to consecrate it and breaks it before
the congregation, he is, according to them, offering Jesus Christ
as a bloodless sacrifice for the sins of the people. A bloodless
sacrifice? But how can that be? The scriptures
are clear. Only a blood sacrifice can put
away sin, pointing to the Lord Jesus Christ alone. Look at Hebrews
9 verse 22. And that's the gospel truth. That was from preacher Miles
McKee. Hark, how the gospel trumpet sounds. Christ in free grace
therein abounds. Free grace to all, since death
he slew. And if free grace, why not for
you? The Savior died, and by his blood
brings rebel sinners home to God. He died to free the captive
who was bound by sin. Why not for you? The blood of
Christ, how sweet it sounds, to cleanse and heal the sinner's
wounds. The streams there are rich and
true. And why, dear soul, why not for
you? Thus Jesus came the poor to bless,
to clothe them in God's righteousness. This robe is spotless, ever new. And why, dear soul, why not for
you? Eternal life by Christ is given,
and ruined rebels saved for heaven. Then sing of grace and life anew. Rejoice, dear soul, tis all for
you. That's from the old hymn, Jesus
Shall Reign. reading from Hebrews 4 16. Let us therefore come boldly
to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace
to help in time of need. To obtain mercy, we begin by
asking for mercy. To ask for mercy presupposes
these three things, friends. Number one, I have no merit. Number two, my sin is all my
fault. If I do not take complete responsibility
for my sin, I cannot really ask for mercy. Number three, mercy
is in his hands to give or withhold. If the Lord passes me by, I cannot
complain of unfairness. Once again, if I do, I am no
longer asking for mercy, but demanding my right. And we are
told to come to the throne of grace with boldness, cheerful
confidence to obtain this mercy. How can we do that without being
presumptuous? Well, The scripture says, for
we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling
of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted like as we
are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly
unto the throne of grace, meaning free, God's free and unmerited
favor, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time
of need. Those who truly come obtain mercy. Psalm 39 5. Man at his best state
is altogether vanity. This describes the best person
we know. The best of men are men at best. Solomon was the wisest man to
ever live and often acted as the most foolish man to ever
live. All of us, without exception, have feet of clay. who is man
at his best state, the Lord Jesus Christ, the sinless one, perfect
manhood. But he made himself of no reputation
when he was made sin and was made to cry, as we read, I believe
it's in Isaiah, I am a worm and no man. He was made vanity that
we might be made like his perfect humanity. That we might spend
eternity in perfect conformity to his perfect manhood That was
from an unknown preacher of righteousness Weakness and accountability Aaron
is called in Psalm 106 verse 16 the saint of the Lord and
Without question, he was a believer, but he was a weak man. When the
children of Israel told him to make them gods, which would go
before them, Aaron complied and became the chief participant
in this great sin. See Exodus 32, verses one through
five. Moses said to Aaron, what did
this people unto thee that thou hast brought so great a sin upon
them? Exodus 32, 22. Aaron refused to take responsibility. He said, the people were set
on mischief, so they gave me gold. And Aaron said, and there
came out this calf. Talk about passing the dollar
or the buck. That was Exodus 32, 24. He was
the one who fashioned the golden calf with a graving tool, Exodus
32, two through four. Yet he would not admit responsibility. If I blame someone or something
else for my wrong behavior, my weakness is not the problem.
It is someone or something else's fault. But when I see it is my
fault because of my sinful weakness, I will cry to the lord for strength
and he will help me. This is what paul meant when
he said when I am weak Then am I strong? 2nd corinthians 12
10 Wherever you find a person who refuses accountability and
personal responsibility You will find a person who remains a weakling
When somebody sees their sinful weakness is the problem. They
will cry to the lord for strength I think that was from preacher
Todd Nybert, if I remember correctly. Many times over the years, I
have heard of preachers and churches that seek to make the Bible relevant
for today. The Bible is the Word of God. When men attempt to make the
Bible relevant for today, it is neither more nor less than
not really believing it is the Word of God. It is a watering
down of the message of the Bible. When a man attempts to make the
Holy Scriptures relevant, that man becomes irrelevant. God did
not use that man's attempt to make the gospel more palatable
to the flesh. That man manifests himself to
be very ignorant and very arrogant. The job of the preacher is to
preach the Word of God, not attempt to make it relevant. A reading
from Psalm 144, verses 1 and 2. Blessed be the Lord my strength,
which teacheth my hands to war and my fingers to fight, my goodness
and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield,
and he in whom I trust, who subdueth my people under me. It is written
in Isaiah 45, 22, where our Lord Jesus Christ commands, look unto
me and be saved all the ends of the earth for I am God and
there is none else. The master also says in Matthew
11, 28 through 30, come unto me all you that labor and are
heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and
learn of me for I am meek and lowly in heart. and ye shall
find rest unto your souls for my yoke is easy and my burden
is light. Friends, it is imperative that
you flee to Christ Jesus today, not tomorrow, for none of us
are promised another day on this planet. Today is the day of salvation. Call upon the name of the Lord
while he may be found, and seek him while he is near. Only by
being in Christ, the ark of our salvation, may we be delivered
from the fierce wrath of Almighty God, which is coming soon upon
the wicked. This about wraps up this evening's
broadcast. I trust Almighty God will awaken
his sleeping elect and draw multitudes of men, women, and children today
around the world to his only begotten son, Christ Jesus, the
Lord, our righteousness, Yehovah Sidkenu. Bless the name. Baruch
