Isaiah 9 and verse 6. For unto us a child is born,
and unto us a son is given. And the government shall be upon
his shoulder, and his name, his name shall be called Wonderful,
Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, and the Prince
of Peace. How can one man be all those
things in one person? How can one man have all those
names? And all of them, you see, they're
capitalized, they're titles of our Lord Jesus Christ. And when
you read this verse, you automatically start thinking about what the
Apostle said, great is the mystery of godliness. So great, God was
manifested in the flesh. God was. And our Lord's person,
here in one breath, one breath, he's called a child and yet the
counselor. He's called the Son and yet the
everlasting Father. He's born, child born and yet
everlasting. He's called the child born and
yet the mighty God. How can that possibly be? Here's
this infant Son born but the Son that's given is infinite. Never was a time he wasn't. He's
the mighty conqueror and yet he's called the Prince of Peace. And when you read something like
this, these five titles of our Lord Jesus Christ in one verse,
you see how little you really know about the Lord Jesus Christ.
Oh, how little we know. But I tell you what, That's why
we come, so we can learn. That's why we read the scriptures,
so we can learn. That's what God calls preachers
for, is to teach. And He, our Lord Jesus Christ,
He's always in our midst. He speaks to us through His Word. We see Him by faith. And yet
there is in His blessed person a height and a depth which human
intellect cannot measure. People say, you know, religion's
too simple. It's for simpletons. Well, I'll
tell you what, if you can ever plumb the depths of the infinity
of God himself, plumb the depth of his precious word, plumb the
depth of who the Lord Jesus Christ was and what he did, if you can
just get your mind started in that direction, it'll have more
than your mind could possibly ever handle in this world. And
when you get into eternity, you still got an eternity to learn. That's how glorious, how great,
and how blessed our God is. It'd take eternity just to see
how wondrous He is. And here's the mystery of our
Lord's person is so deep that a man won't know anything about
Him unless He reveals Himself to him. We'd never know anything
about Him had He not revealed Himself to us. You can't find
him out by research. You can't understand him by human
reasoning. That's why he said to the apostles,
who do men say that I, the son of man, am? Well, they said that
some say you're Jeremiah, some say you're Elijah, one of the
other prophets. But he said, who do you say that I, the son
of man, am? Simon Peter answered and said,
thou art the Christ, the son of the living God. Everybody
else got some said that have said but we say that the Christ
the son of the living God And that's why Paul said when it
pleased God it really pleased God to do this He's the one that
separated me from my mother's womb He's the one who called
me by his grace to do what to reveal his son in me. He's the door and No one opens
it, but him And when He opens, nobody can shut. And when He
shuts it, there ain't nobody can open. That's what our Lord
Jesus Christ is. And I tell you what, He's the
one to whom we look. He's the one to whom we look.
And we can't see until He gives us sight. And so I pray that
somebody will get sight today. Oh Lord, we say pray, Lord be
our teacher. Be our teacher. Our Lord said,
take my yoke upon you and learn of me. Oh, I want to learn about
Christ. I've been at this for a long,
long time and still I stand in awe and wonder. Oh, I want to
learn about Christ. I want to learn Him. I want to
be like Mary. I want to sit at His feet. Sit
at His feet. Not let this world take me away
from sitting at His feet. That may God make us like the
Apostle Paul when he said, Oh, that I may know Him, that I may
win Christ and be found in Him. Oh my. That we may grow in grace
and knowledge of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm going
to go through this first just a little at a time. First of
all, look what it says, For unto us a child is born. Now we know
that this, our Lord Jesus Christ, this is not the time of His birth,
this time of year, it's not the time of His birth at all. Our
Lord Jesus Christ, when He was born, it says, the angels began
to appear with Him in the hills of Bethlehem and said, unto us
is born a Savior in the city of David, a Savior which is Christ
the Lord. And I tell you, a child is born
as to His human nature. And what happens is eternity,
eternity, a child born, eternity breaks into time. And through
the womb of a virgin, our Lord Jesus Christ, a child is born,
our Lord Jesus Christ broke into time through the womb of a virgin. And He took upon Himself the
likeness of sinful flesh. And I tell you, you know and
I know that the Godhead can't be born. The Godhead can't be
born. For it's eternal. It's eternal. Godhead can't be born. It's eternal.
No wonder the apostles said, great is the mystery of God.
And here's this child. What child is he? He's the son
of God. He's the one that God sent. He's
the one he sent through the womb of a virgin. Most people don't
understand why he had to come through the womb of a virgin.
If He was made in the likeness of sinful flesh, not sinful flesh,
He had a body like our body. He had blood in His veins like
ours. He could shed tears like we do. He knows what it was to
have grief and sorrow. But our Lord Jesus Christ, He
was a child that was born. And why He had to come through
the womb of a virgin was that He had to be something other
than a son of Adam. He could not be related to Adam
in any way. He could not have the blood of
a man blowing through his veins. It had to be born of God. He
had to be born of the Spirit of God. He had to be someone
that the only way he could be related to us is if he was willingly
related to us. A child, an infant. Here he is
in need of a mother. In need of a father. in need
of love, in need of tender care. As a child to be taught, to be
fed, to be closed. And you hear Him cry. We hear
Him cry when He's an infant. And now He's the one who hears
our cries when we call on Him. See Him helpless in His mother's
arms, who is now our help in our helplessness. See Him in
His need as a child who now meets all of our needs as we're His
child. Oh, no wonder. Great is the mystery
of Godliness. A child is born. Look what else
it says now. A son is given. A son is given. This is His divine nature, His
holy nature, His sinless nature. You see God's wondrous grace?
A son given. A son given. And see our Savior's wondrous
grace because He came. He was given. And you know what
He was given to do? Given to be? I read it in Isaiah
53. He was given, first of all, to
be our Savior. Unto you is born a Savior. I need saving. I need a Savior. I can't save myself. Thou shalt
call His name Jesus. Why? Because He shall cave His
people from their sins. And then He was born to be our
substitute. The Lord laid on Him the iniquity
of us all. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace
was upon Him. It pleased the Lord to bruise
him and make his soul an offering for sin. Oh my! He was a lamb led to the slaughter. So not only was he born and given
to be our Savior, but he was given to be our substitute. He
came into this world, His Son was given to come into this world
with one purpose in His life and that was to be our Savior
and to be our substitute when He went to the cross to bear
our sins there in His own body on that tree. And then, beloved,
on that tree He was the sacrifice that God said that He made. He
saw the travail of His soul and was satisfied. God! God looked
at His Son and offered Him as a Lamb, offered Him as a sacrifice,
spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for all of us. And He by Himself, by the sacrifice
of Himself, put away sin once. Once. in the end of the world
oh listen he was given to be our righteousness he was given
to be our justification before God he was the lamb slain from
the foundation of the world but he came as a lamb in time to
be offered And all He was given, you know why He was given? The
Son was given? Because God loved us. God loved
us. I've loved you with an everlasting
love. So with the cords, cords of a
man, cords of a man. Well, I draw you. And then He
came. He came because He loved us.
Having loved His own, which were in the world. How long did he
love him? To the end. And you notice it
said he was given. Not deserved. He's given. He wasn't deserved. Nobody deserved
him. Why did God give him? For me. What did I deserve? Given. I'll tell you another reason
why he's given. Because God will only accept
what he himself provides he had to have someone equal to himself
and the only person equal to himself was his son and God gave
him and God will accept him and Ruby used to say this to me all
the time on the way out of the service thanks be unto God for
his unspeakable gift and then this is what gets me For unto us a child is born,
and unto us a son is given. Unto us. Unto us. Sinners. Sinners. There's not a person in this
building that's not a sinner. You may not know it, but I know
it. And I know I am. Unto us, sinners. Unto us helpless, helpless. Unto us who had no power, no
ability. Unto us who sat in such darkness. And Christ came as the light.
Unto us, no bodies. Unto us, nothings. unto us. Oh, no wonder Paul, Peter says,
you know, we count the long suffering of God our salvation. I tell you, I still can't get
over it. I woke up during the night last
night wondering how in the world a man like me could be saved.
How somebody like me could be saved. You just don't know how
bad I am. You don't know. But God knows. And I throw myself on Him. Who
else am I going to go to? Unto us who were chosen. Chosen in Christ before the foundation
of the world. Unto us who were God's elect. Unto us who were predestinated.
to be conformed to the image of his blessed son unto us who
were loved and then laid in the precious blood of God's dear
son unto us who were polluted in our blood and unto us who
the Lord passed by and said I see thee and I put my skirt over
you and I said unto thee live yea I said unto thee live oh
my a child born but a son given a son given then look what else
it says about him and his name and his name shall be called
his name shall be called let me tell you something about his
name God the Father gave him all these names. God the Father
gave him the name of Jesus. God the Father gave him to be
the Christ. And do you reckon God ever gave
him a name he didn't deserve? You reckon he lives up to his
name? His name should be called. Who
called him that? Who gave him these names? Who
gave him this name? And it says it's just his name.
One name. And in this one name is all these
offices. In this one name is all this
glory. In this one name is everything. Did God ever give him a name
that he didn't deserve? And oh, there's five here. Five titles and yet it's one
name. One name that has these titles.
You know, this world likes to give titles to people. This world
loves to give titles to people. Duchess, King, Queen, Honorable
this, Honorable that, Senator this, Senator that, LLD, TDD,
LTD, and every other kind of D that you can put on somebody's
name. They like to put titles on people. But God gave his son
titles and he lives up to every single one of them. He didn't
take them to himself. God gave him these titles. And
look what he says. First thing he says about him,
wonderful. Wonderful. Wonderful. You know wonderful also means
two things. Miracle and marvel. When you see something wonderful,
you say, oh my, oh my. A miracle and a marvel. Our Lord
Jesus Christ, is He not wonderful? Is He not full of wonderful?
Is He not a miracle? Do we not marvel at Him and His
blessed grace? He is wonderful. He was wonderful
before He came into this world. He was wonderful. He was wonderful
all back in eternity before he ever broke into time. And he's
wonderful in his sinless, holy, glorious life. No wonder they
said about him, never man spake like this man. He doeth all things
well. Do they not know that he's the
Christ? They marveled at his words because
they were warned as having authority. And it says again in another
thing, such gracious words came out of his mouth, and the common
people heard him gladly. And then, oh, wonderful in his
deeds. How many people did he heal? How many lepers did he cleanse? How many blind men received the
sight? How many deaf people heard? How
many devils was cast out? And oh, His words. What words? What words? Father, I will. Father, I finished the work.
Father, I came down from heaven, not for my own glory, but thine.
So our Lord Jesus Christ. Oh, what is the words? Oh, how wonderful He was in His
love for His people. How wonderful in His humility.
In His humility. How wonderful in His meekness,
led as a lamb to the slaughter. How wonderful in His wisdom.
Oh, the wisdom. He's 12 years old. Everybody's
sitting around listening to Him talk. The doctors and the lawyers,
all the smart people of Israel. Our Lord Jesus Christ sat down
in the middle of them. and he confounded him, he's 12
years old. He just confounded him. And he's
still confounding people. He's still confounding people.
Oh, the wisdom that he has. And I tell you what, just the
most wonderful thing. He was so wonderful in his death. So wonderful in his death. You know when they took our Lord
Jesus Christ to the cross, you know they never had to restrain
Him. They never had to hold Him down.
He never struggled the first time. When they set Him on that
cross, He willingly gave His arms. He willingly gave His feet. He willingly done all this. And I tell you what, it's wonderful
that he should die at all. Why did our Lord Jesus Christ
die? He had no sin of his own. He had no reason to die. The
only reason a man would ever die is because of sin. So when
our Lord Jesus Christ didn't have any, so he had to die for
someone else's sin. Because he had none of his own.
Well, whose sin did he die for? His people's. His people's sins. God made Him to be sin, who knew
no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. And oh, it's just wonderful that
He should die at all. And oh my, in His resurrection,
when our Lord raised again from the dead, the first one to see
Him was Mary. Mary. And all his disciples was
hid in an upper room. They was all scared to death.
Said, boy, he's not raised, the Jews gonna come get us. They
was in the room. And our Lord Jesus Christ told
Mary, said, go tell my brethren in Peter that I go before him
to Galilee and I'll see him. And they was all in that room
and our Lord Jesus Christ He appeared in the presence of them.
He just appeared there. There He was. You know that's
the way He does now. He appears to us now. Just, we'll
be going about our business. He'll appear to us. He'll appear
to our hearts. He'll appear to our faith. He'll
appear to our souls. And He'll appear to us and make
us relish and delight in His blessed presence. But oh my,
because He resurrected We're going to resurrect. And then
what about his ascension? Oh, how wonderful was his ascension.
After 40 days and 40 nights on this earth, after his resurrection,
they started going up to Mount Olive and he was going up through
there and his disciples was with him. And our Lord Jesus Christ
was standing there talking with him. And his feet started going
up. He's lost gravity. And he started
going up. And those disciples stood there
looking. Because they saw him going away. We're going to see
him coming. They stood there and looked at
him. He's gone. Went right up in through
the clouds. He's gone. Ascended back. And when he got there, the Father
said unto the Son, Sit right here at my right hand. You sit
right here. I'm going to give you all power.
I'm going to give you all authority. You're going to do everything
that I want done on this earth, sitting right here. And you're
going to sit here, and one of these days I'm going to make
every enemy that was ever yours, I'm going to make them your footstool.
But anyway, they're standing there looking up, and them angels,
two angels appeared to them and said, Listen, you men of Israel,
why stands he gazing up into the heavens? As he went away,
so shall you see him coming. And that's what the scripture
says that, oh, listen, he's going to appear in the clouds. Oh,
he's going to come back. And what about the wonder of
his intercession? Let me tell you something about
our Lord interceding for us. We pray for one another. We intercede
for one another. Sometimes God will just burden
you over somebody and something going on in their life. And that's
all you can think about. And that's what's called intercession.
But when our Lord intercedes for us, you know one thing He
never mentions. He never mentions anything good
about us. He didn't say, James, I want
to present James to you. James has lived a holy life, lived a good
life, and lived a righteous life, and I want you to bless him for
that. No, no, that's not the way He intercedes for us. You
know how He intercedes for us? He pleads His own worth. He pleads
His own name. He pleads His own righteousness.
He pleads His own death. He pleads, these are sheep. These
are sheep. And then, oh, bless His holy
name. What a wonder it's going to be when He comes again. When
He comes again. Here comes the next one. Counselor. Counselor. What in the world
is he talking about counselor? Counselor. Notice it's capitalized
like everything else. You know, God asked us, if I
need counsel, would I have asked of you? Well, God had a counsel. And the Lord Jesus Christ was
the one in that council and the counselor that come to reveal
the eternal counsel to us all that God promised for purpose
to do in this world it was through our Lord Jesus Christ and he's
the one that was a wonderful counselor in it he's the one
who stood and said I'll go I'll go there's not an angel that
can go they don't know what it's like to be a human being But
I'll go and I'll take upon myself flesh. I'll take upon myself
human nature. I'll take upon myself their sin. I'll take upon myself their guilt.
I'll be responsible for the sheep. No creatures were ever allowed
or ever needed by God in His counsels or in His thoughts,
but our Lord Jesus Christ is. He is God's counselor in wisdom.
Oh, he was God's wisdom in creation. We sang that song. How great
thou art. You look at the creation and
look at the glory of it. And you cannot stand and wonder
and say how God did all this. God did this. Stand at the Grand
Canyon and as far as you can see. Grandeur. Stand on the highest mountain
in Colorado and look down and say, God did this. Stand at the
Niagara Falls, God did this. Who did he do it through? Through
his son. I want a falls over there, I'll
make you one. I want a mountain, the highest
one in the world, I'll make it for you. I want these beautiful
valleys, I'll make them for you. I want glorious green grass here
and I want desert over there and I want rocks over here and
I want... I'll do that for you Father.
And our Lord Jesus Christ, He went and done everything the
Father told Him to do. Huh? Oh, he's the wisdom of God
in providence. What do we mean by that? We know,
we know that all things work together for our good. That's
providence. All things work together for
our good to them that are their called
according to God's purpose. Oh my. And then salvation. Oh, he was the counselor in salvation.
How could God be just? Just and save sinners and stay
just. How can he do that? That's the
ages of the question. The question of the ages. How
in the world can God stay on his throne and stay righteous
and stay holy? infinitely so and come down here
and take unclean people like us sinners like us people that
cannot come to God by themselves has no worth has no merit has
nothing good about them nothing good they ever done nothing right
they ever done how in the world can God stay just and come down
here and save us Our Lord Jesus Christ said, I'll stand in their
place. I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll
go and bear their sin and then I'll give them Through my obedience,
I'll give them my obedience. And through my righteousness,
I'll give them my righteousness. Through my life, I'll raise them
from the dead. Through my power, I'll quicken
them and bring them to you. Through everything that I do,
Lord, will you accept them if I go do that for them? Yes, I
will. And he said, Herein does my Father love me,
because I lay down my life for who? The sheep. I have other sheep which are
not of this foal, them also I must bring. And I got lost sheep. And He
said, I'll go out in the wilderness and I'll look and I'll look and
I'll look and I'll look and I'll find that lost sheep. I'll put
him on my shoulder and I'll bring him back and I'll put him in
the fold. And then everybody will rejoice with me. Whenever
God brings somebody in this congregation to His fold, you know what we
do? Every single one of us rejoice. Ain't that right? And oh my! and he's our counselor. He's
our counselor. I've been praying today, Lord
don't let me do this, make the wrong move in a certain thing.
He's our counselor. He's our guide. He said he is
the way. He's the one that guides us to
the way. He's the truth. He's the one that guides us into
the truth. He's our wisdom. No wonder David
said, the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He leads me. He leads me. And you know some
of the things he counsels us to do? He counsels us to love. That's the first thing he counsels
us to do. Love one another. By this shall all disciples know
you're my disciples. All men know you're my disciples
because you'll have love one toward another. That's the first
thing he counsels us to do. Second thing he would counsels
us to forgive he counsels us to forgive He counsels us to
forbear He counsels us to be humble Humble counsels us to
be generous Counsels us to be giving and counsels us to believe
on him And then gives us the faith to do it. He counsels us
to cast all our cares upon him because He cares for us. He counsels
us to wait upon Him and in Him to find rest for our souls. And
then He counsels us to our eternal hope. You know what He said?
He said, I go away. Let not your heart be troubled.
I go away. I'm leaving here. But if I go away, He says, you
know what I'm going to do? I'm going to come again. And
you know what I'm going to do when I come again? I'm going
to bring you where I am. So you can be with me where I
am. And he prayed in John 17, 24, and he said, Oh my goodness,
what a counsel here. Father, I will that they whom
thou hast given me be with me where I am that they may behold
my glory. Oh, what a day that's going to
be. Look what else he's going to say. Look what else he's saying
here. He's called the Mighty God. The Mighty God. The Mighty God. He's the Great
I Am. Our Lord Jesus Christ had seven
I Am's in the Gospels. Seven I Am's. Seven's perfection. Well, He's the I Am in seven
blessed things. But He's the Mighty God. The
mighty God. Can anybody do these words except
God be with him? His words said, I am my father,
I am one. And his words, when he could
control nature, when he could control the sea, he could control
storms, he could walk on the water, he could raise dead people
with just a word. Nobody else but God could do
that. He forgave a man of his sins one time. They climbed up
on the roof, took a bunch of towels off, and let a man down
in the midst of, in a house where our Lord Jesus was sitting teaching.
And they let him down. He looked at that fellow, and
they let him down. He looked at that fellow and said, Son,
be of good cheer. Thy sins be forgiven thee. That's the best
news you'll ever hear in your life is, Thy sins be forgiven
you. I'm telling you, that's the best
news you'll ever hear, that your sins be forgiven you. Oh, they'll come and bother you.
Yes, they'll come and bother you, but always say, Thy sins
be forgiven you. And them Pharisees said, who in the
world can forgive sins but God only? And our Lord Jesus Christ
said, which is easier to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee, or
to take up your bed and walk. He said, but you may know that
I've got the power to forgive sins. Get off that bed, roll
it up, walk out of here. Oh my. He didn't just come into
existence when he was born in Bethlehem. Oh no, when He was
born in Bethlehem, that's not when He came into existence.
In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, the Word
was God. And without Him was not anything
made that was made. And I'll tell you something else,
He existed before He was born in Bethlehem. And He didn't cease
to exist when He died on the cross. He's the mighty God. Mighty God. Able to save or to
damn. Able to justify or able to leave
condemned. Able to uphold or else bring
down. He is not God humanized and He's
not man deified. And God alone is to be worshipped.
And we worship Him. We worship Him. as God Himself. God Himself. Look what else it
says about Him. This is a quickie dig right here.
This is something hard to explain. I don't know if I'll be able
to explain it or not. Not only is His name called Wonderful
Counselor of the Mighty God, but look what it said here, the
Everlasting Father. Now our Lord Jesus Christ is
only one Father in the Godhead. And our Lord Jesus Christ prayed
to His Father, called Him His Holy Father, His Righteous Father.
And He said, I do always pray, not for my sake, but for those
who hear me. And He's our Advocate with the
Father. So how in the world is He one
Father and He's called the Everlasting Father? How can He be that? Well, I'll tell you, I'll try
to explain it as best I can. He's the everlasting Father in
respect to His God's elect, to His chosen people. Now how can
you say that? Because we're begotten by Him.
Is that not right? We're begotten by Him. He said,
He shall see His seed. He shall see His seed. Whose
seed is He talking about? He's talking about us. We're
the seed of the Son of God. We were in our Lord Jesus Christ's
loins from eternity. There was a people in Him from
eternity. He's the author and finisher
of our faith. And we was begotten by Him and
His seed remains in us and in Him is no sin. He's the sinless
Son of God and His seed remains in us. We're begotten by the
Gospel, the seed, the Word of God. And that seed, that's Christ
in you, the hope of glory. It's Christ in you, beloved,
that God begets us again. You know, and I've said this
before, whenever you were to listen to the Gospel, What we're
doing is Christ in the Scriptures answers to Christ in your heart.
Christ in the Scriptures, when we preach Him, answers to your
faith, answers to Christ in you, and that's why you respond the
way you do. Oh my, we were in His loins from
eternity. He's the everlasting Father because
He cannot die. And we'll never be fatherless. And He's the everlasting Father
because He saves us from everlasting to everlasting. And when it says the Father,
everlasting Father, the Father of eternity, the author of eternal
life, He clothes us with an everlasting robe of righteousness. He gives
us everlasting forgiveness. He gives us eternal justification. He is the Father of all that
ours and they come from Him and because of Him. He has made unto
us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. And then I'll
close with this. Look at 5. Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty
God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace. Prince of Peace. He is a Prince and a King by
birth. They said, where is he that's born King? Born King. He's a Prince by office and by
power and authority. He's a Prince and a Savior. And
here it says He's the Prince of Peace. Prince is capitalized. Peace is capitalized. You know
why He's called the Prince of Peace? Because He established
peace between us and God. Preachers tell people all the
time, make your peace with God. They'll go talk to somebody that's
on their deathbed or in a hospital and say, you need to make peace
with God before you leave here. Well, God's already made peace.
Christ already made peace. You can't make peace. The only
peace you'll ever have. And that's why Paul said He is
our peace. Not He's going to be our peace.
He is our peace. He's the Prince of Peace because
He brought peace in and He established peace. And then He brought peace
into this world. And then He gives peace to us. And oh my, a peace that passes
understanding. Oh, it's the most wonderful thing
in the world to have peace with God. I remember trying to make
peace with God on long terms and it never worked. It never
worked. But when I come to Christ and
God brought me to His blessed Son, And I found out that He
made peace through the blood of His cross. How did He make peace? He put
away the enmity between us and God. He took the enmity out of
our heart towards God. And then He brought peace into
our hearts and into our souls. Oh my! God's not angry. Why not? Because Christ bore
His wrath. And then he gives peace and he
sustains this peace. Being justified by faith, we
have peace with God. And Romans 14, 17 says this,
the kingdom of God is righteousness, joy, and peace in the Holy Ghost. That's what the kingdom of God
is. His is a kingdom of peace. You find somebody wants to fuss
and fight and argue all the time? They've never been under God's
peace. And look what it says now. Back up here. For unto us a child is born.
Unto us a son is given. And listen to this. The government
shall be up on his shoulder. You notice that singular? I've
got two shoulders. Christ said he'll bear them on
his shoulder. The government on his shoulder.
You know what he does on the other shoulder? He carries his sheep. You think he can handle boats? He's got the government over
here. Got his sheep over here. And
I'll tell you something. That's what I'm talking about.
How glorious is our Lord Jesus Christ. That he can govern the
world. and carry the government of this
world on one shoulder. And I mean He governs the world.
There ain't nobody in any power or any position in this world
that Christ didn't put Him there. There ain't nobody coming down
unless Christ brings them down. There ain't no king going to
be overthrown. Nobody going to go, nothing going
to happen. The gospel is not going anywhere until Christ sends
it. The king, this government of the world is on his shoulder.
And then he says, when he finds that lost sheep, he puts it on
his shoulder and carries it. And it says over there in Isaiah,
I forget where it's at right now, but he said he carries the
lambs in his bosom and on his shoulder. Now that's what I've
been trying to say all day. That's how glorious our Lord
Jesus Christ is. He can govern the world and carry
sheep all at the same time. And then order everything in
our lives just exactly the way it's supposed to be. Oh my. And you know how he rules? He rules in wisdom. He don't
rule capriciously. He rules in wisdom. He rules
in love. He rules in grace. He rules in
power. He rules in prudence. And you know something? Every
single one of us, every one of His children, no matter where
they're at, they're willingly ruled by Him. Yes, sir. And look what it says there in
verse 7. of the increase of his government and peace there's
never going to be an end to it never going to be an end to it
and look what it says upon the throne of David upon his kingdom
to order and establish it with judgment and with justice for
henceforth forevermore forever and ever and listen to this now
the zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this Well, I said what I could say. I hope it was a blessing. I hope
it was a blessing. Our Father, in the precious name
of our Lord Jesus Christ, we thank you for allowing us to
speak of you today. What tongue has the ability to
say these things, to say them the way they should be said?
What ear has the ability to hear these things as they should be
heard? So Lord, be our teacher, be our counselor. Be our salvation. Be everything
to us. Lord, we need you. And we want
you. Save you people in this place.
For Christ's sake. Amen. Amen. Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light
of His glory and grace.
