Chapter six it's been a while Wednesday's again, we're looking at a having the mind of Christ out of Philippians, let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. And tonight we're gonna look at prayerfulness, how Christ was prayerful. And it was in a state of prayerfulness most of the time. Once again, to note the Son of God, all power in heaven on earth, in prayer and in prayer's posture or humility. What an example. And we have this for our text this evening, Luke six and verse 12, Luke six and verse 12. And it came to pass in those days that he went out into a mountain to pray and continued all night in prayer to God. That's speaking of our Lord Jesus Christ. Now, speaking of Christ, I want you to think on this. Think on these things, what I'm about to tell you, and it's even more amazing that he was a man of prayer.

He was a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief, but he saturated, he inundated everything prayer. First, Out of John chapter three, you don't need to turn there, it said, the spirit was poured out upon him without measure, yet he prayed. Secondly, he was incarnate wisdom, not needing that any should teach him, yet he prayed. Thirdly, He was infinite in power and boundless in himself, yet he prayed. If you look at all of it, if you look at the shores of Tiberias in Acts chapter one, verse 12, John chapter 21, you will find Christ in constant prayer. Constant prayer.

Turn with me to Isaiah 50. I'd never seen this if it hadn't been brought up during these lessons. Isaiah chapter 50. No morning, a.m. No morning breaks without Christ fetching fresh manna for the day's journey and the day's trials or the day's hardship. This is regarding Christ. Isaiah 50 and look at verse four. This is astounding.

The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary. He waketh morning by morning. He waketh my ear to hear as to learn." So they were in constant communion, the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. He waketh me morning by morning. And I should know how to speak a word in season to Him, to God the Father. That's amazing. Every act of his earthly ministry and walk in this hateful world was preceded by communion with his heavenly father. If you look at his baptism, he was in prayer. Transfiguration, in prayer. His miracles, he seeded them with prayer.

His agony on the cross and his death. Luke chapter 23. Luke chapter 23, his last breath was a praying breath. Luke 23 and verse 34. He's hanging the crucifixion and death of Christ as he's hanging there between two malfactors. Then said Jesus prayer, father, forgive them for they know not what they do. And they parted his garments and cast lots.

His dying breath was a praying breath. He refreshed his spirit. He raised his spirit. He revived his soul from that great fountain source that we are, through Christ, privileged to partake as well. We can go boldly to the throne of grace to seek and find help and grace in the time of need. So Christ himself, who, as I said, had the spirit without measure, he needed not that any should teach him the infinite power, boundless wisdom, and all of it, all these different places, he inundated with prayer. And we have the same great fountain source.

So secondly, as I usually do this, Christ, and then let's look at ourselves through the scriptures, What of us here tonight? Do we know Him? Do we love Him? Do we trust Him evermore? Then let us have the same mind. The same mind as Christ. Are we downcast? Are we depressed? Are we languishing?

Then frequent the prayer chamber. And I've often said it because I've read it somewhere and I agree. I don't know how we would know this, but probably, it's probably used one of the least is our privilege of prayer. We end up going and doing stuff without asking for direction. That's like Nathan preached a couple of weeks ago.

We go out from the cloud. Lord, if your presence doesn't go, let us not go. In every situation, every situation. Let us frequent the prayer chamber. Let us go boldly, as I just said, to the throne of grace. We, through grace and blood redemption, have the key to access Christ and His mercy. I was reading somebody the other day and he says, we're like the terns, you know, the bird. It skims the surface. And there's so much beneath the surface. but we often short ourselves to say that, use it that way. Without prayer, we are pilgrims without a staff. We're a mariner without a compass and a soldier that is unarmed for battle.

Put you on the Lord, let this mind be in us. Let us do such things. And I will say this, let us beware of any distractions to this privilege, this grace of prayer. This world, it's amusements, it's friendships, et cetera, et cetera. Let us be aware of any distractions. Oh, I need you to do this, I need you to do that. Okay, I'll be there when I get there.

You don't have to say, I'm gonna be in my prayer chamber, my closet, but that's, if you need to depart Christ, who isn't, no one, No one suffered like Christ and yet he found time to utter prayer on the cross. And he wasn't saying, like we would say, oh, take this from me. Take this pain, take it away from me, and that may be the Lord's will. But no, Lord, your will be done. Not as not my will, but as thy will be done. So again, I say, let us beware of distractions. And there are so many in this world. There's so many. All that glitters is not gold. And a lot of this world's amusements are distractions.

Water will not flow very well through a clogged channel or obstructed pipe. And I know that. I was setting up a little garden fountain that we have just yesterday. and part of it was working and the top part wasn't working at all. So I took the hose and shot it up in there and a bunch of mud came out and now it's flowing well. That's what we do when we engage in worldly or satisfy our worldly appetites is we're clogging the pipe and the hose.

So let us seek communion with like minds. That's those who believe the gospel. Why was it so easy For Melinda and I, and for everybody, from what I could tell, why was it so easy to commune and have fellowship with Gail and Alan? Because they're the same mind. Same mind. Now, I didn't know them as well as I've known a lot of these other preachers. You know, it's like when you saw Tommy, you open the door, you're like, I don't know about this guy. And as soon as he came and you said, he's like my long lost brother.

And that's exactly, we need the iron sharpening iron. That's, that's what, and then you, you, you can encourage one another and find out other areas of prayer. Perhaps turn to Romans chapter 12. Romans chapter 12 and verse 2, let us encourage one another, let us pray for one another, pray for the ministry, pray for the gospel as it goes forth. I covet your prayers, I need your prayers. I need to, how do I say this, I need to improve my, maybe my delivery, maybe I stutter too much, whatever it might be, to present the message clear and plain. Romans chapter 12 verse 2, and be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, Christ, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. And that could be done through scripture reading, through your prayer chamber, on your knees.

Is there any Are we going through any trials, any hardship, loss, or affliction? Remember Christ's words, and turn to Matthew 26, and we'll be about finished here. Matthew 26. Christ is going in His agony in the garden, and we don't know the total, what his total agony was. We know what it is in our mind, but we haven't experienced it.

He's taken upon himself the sin of all his elect, of all his people, of all his church. He's going to be the scapegoat. He's going to be the propitiation for the sins of his people. Here he is in Matthew 26 and look at verse 36. Then come with Jesus with them to a place called Gethsemane. And he said unto his disciples, sit here while I go and pray yonder. Now remember he went and then they came back and they were asleep. The spirit is willing, and the flesh is weak. And we know that. We know that. We heard that this weekend very clearly. The flesh isn't ever going to get any better. But we mortify the deeds of the flesh.

How do you do that? One way? Through grace, giving, enabling grace, prayer. Prayer, indeed. So I tell you this, and we know this from a little bit of experience, by prayer, brethren, rough paths, will be made smooth. Trials are disarmed. Enjoyments are made more so. Even the bread of this world can be made, says one writer, into angels' foods. Arm yourself likewise with the same mind in prayer as Christ prayed for us. Nathan, would you close us, please?
