That's a blessing. That's twenty-five
minutes. I've been enjoying it since the
beginning. I've been doing it for a long,
long time. I love it. I'm going to open your Bibles
to Isaiah 55. I'm going to talk to you tonight
about the faithfulness of God, the faithfulness of God, the
mercy and courage and faithfulness of our Lord God. This is a message
intended to be one of comfort and encouragement to all of you
who believe. And two things are evident in
this chapter, two things are quite evident. The first is who
speaks. It's the Lord who's speaking
here. These are the words of the heavenly
Father. Every word in this chapter is
the word of the heavenly Father given to us through this Father.
Most of the time, he gets an impression that God's speaking
directly to me, himself. The second thing that's evident
in this chapter is to whom he speaks. Who's speaking? That's a perfectly good question
to start with, Bob. To whom is he speaking? Well,
he tells us in the very first sentence, to whom everyone will
question. This is spiritual first, not
natural first. Dr. Walden is aware of it. He's giving me that, rather than
talking about it, I'm going to come here all ruddery and bold.
I already said this is visible. Visible. And our Master said
in Matthew 5, Bless them for a way which is bumper and burst. For righteous they shall be filled. They shall be filled. And it
includes everyone who searches. That's what he says here, lo,
lo, lo, just everyone, Jew, Gentile, male and female. Old and young, rich
and poor. Oh, everyone's a person. Everyone. Everyone. There's a receipt of
that verse if you'd like to turn over to Psalm 42. Psalm 42, verse
1 and 2. This is the verse which the Father
received from the earth when I was talking about my message.
Here it is. If I am hearing out there, Psalm
2, verse 1 and 2. That's the heart, that's the
fear. As the fear passes after the
love of God, so passes my soul after Thee, O God. My soul pursues for God, for
the living God, the living God. That's why our Lord Jesus said,
eternal life, is to know the true living God, not just the
God. I'm so thirsty for God, for the
living God, where is He? Shall I come and appear before
God?" All right, that's what I'm going to tell you. So, Bhāgavata says, everyone
that has this thirst for God, for the living God, is a prized
person. In fact, he says, come ye to
the waters. Come on. If you're thirsty, come
to the waters. You notice He didn't say, come
to the water? It's plural. It's water, plenty
of it. Rivers of water. That's when
our Lord Jesus said in that last day of the feast, He said, if
any man thirsts, let him come to his drink, and out of his
fetters shall flow rivers, rivers of living water. What are we
talking about? Plenty of it. Come to the water.
Isaiah defines well over here in Isaiah thirty-five. I'll just
read it, please, because I want to turn it back. In Isaiah thirty-five,
verse three, he says, "'Straighten this heathen's weak hands, confirm
his feeble means, save his lambs and others for God. Be strong,
fear not, behold, your God will come to save you. Even God, the
director of his heathen, comes to save you. And when he comes
with the eyes unblindly open, the ears of the deaf shall be
unspotted. Then shall the lame man leap
as a deer, and the tongues of the dumb shall say, and in the
wilderness shall waters break out, and streams of the desert
come to them." Waters is plenty. Streams of the desert. Our brothers
call that a fountain. I found that same kind of inspiration.
How is he not? How is he not? All right, that's what I tell
you. Now, if you're a good person,
if you're a good person, you come to the boss with a rebundant
supply. And then you identify with your
brother. He says, he has asked for money.
That's a good person. Then he says over and over again,
The Spirit's not talking about it. They don't understand that
spirit when he says, I'm poor indeed. Old Rock, the faith says
to me, the blessing of the poor and the spirit of the poor and
the spirit is to have nothing, know nothing, and to do nothing.
Indeed, it's that. The poor and the needy. And that's defined over here
in terms of another scripture. You listen while I read it. It's
talking about when David was in exile. David was an ardent
king of Israel, but he was in exile. And it says this, and
everyone that was in distress, and everyone that was in pain,
and everyone that was discontented, judged themselves for him. He
became a Catholic. That's who he was. I didn't come
to call the Rogers. He didn't call the Senator. Every wanted person comes to
the Rogers. If you've got no money, if you're
in debt, distress, come. Come by and eat. Now, that's a strange, strange,
but how can you buy when you've got no money? I think he's fine because that
doesn't hurt. His head's on the most of the
stove. That's about right. My grandfather,
my granddaddy, my mother's daddy, a long years ago, he owned a
stove. And it was part of his house. He had a very big house and a
stove there, the front porch. The same front porch would serve
the house and serve the stove. And you can imagine, I was a
kid, just six, seven, eight, nine years old. I'd go run digging
in two weeks after summer. We'd go see my grandpa in two
weeks after summer. Go run the train, go back. Sit
on that front porch. I didn't have any coal. Two pennies were up with y'all.
From the cockpit, go in that store and get me a cocoa. I could go in that store and
I could buy. some kind of a cookie, come out, sit on a porch table.
I didn't have a dime, but I could buy anything. My grandfather
used to come here. This is the place where the coffee was sold.
So he used to come out. He was hungry. He was thirsty. He was deaf. He was distressed.
He said, you come by and you eat. Look at this. It's going
away. I said, come by and I'll have
a meal for that money. So he got a price. If you're
thirsty, really drink it. The Word is calm. The Word is
not brazen. The Word does not give extreme
consideration. Of course, not thirsty, but... The Word does not say, it's calm. Oh, everyone that's thirsty,
it's calm. Jesus is there for me, calm.
He that hath no money, come." He says it three times. Come! Now all that's left to say, all
we need, come on! He's back. That's the prophecy. That's it, I think. And he says,
come to the waters of Trinity. When it appears to be silent,
out came blood and water. Blood will justify the water's
sanctity. The blood will purify before
the Lord, and the water purify before the holy God. Deoceans
is also pure, sacred from wrath, sacred from sin. To thank me
that I'm blessed, it isn't justified to say I'm blessed. And that's
what he does. Walkers, he cleans. Now, wine,
he said, wine makes the heart gladden, joy. Milk, we got to do great mercenaries,
y'all in there, by the way. I know we have. That's all she
does, is drink milk. That's all. Have you had any
of that tap room yet? None of that stuff, you know. This mama's milk. Well,
she's getting fat. Her little cheeks just rosy. That's all she needs. She needs water
to quench. She's wide awake with her hand in her jaw and milk.
That's all she needs. That's all she needs. That's all she
needs. That's all she needs. That's all she needs. That's all she needs. That's all she
needs. That's all she needs. That's all she needs. That's all she needs.
That's all she needs. That's all she needs. That's all she needs. That's all she needs.
That's all she needs. That's all she needs. That's
all she needs. That's all she needs. That's all she needs. That's all she needs.
That's all she needs. That's all she needs. That's
all she needs. That's all she needs. That's
all she needs. That's all she needs. That's the question. Why do we spend
money for that which is not great? When you say the word here, he's
talking about why you spend what you have. And what you have is your time
and your labor and your effort and your energy. And why are
we spending this time and effort, labor and energy for that which
has no lasting value? It's my bread, it's my soul food,
it's what He said and it can never satisfy me. What I'm talking
about? I'm talking about two things.
On which people spend everything they've got. And I'm not talking
about money, I'm talking about time and labor and effort and
energy and everything. The work. That's one of the first
things people spend everything they have, their time, their
energy, their labor, their effort, on trying to get some satisfaction
out of this world, and it's not for them. It's not for them. You shouldn't
prop a man against the whole world. And he said, I'll never pray
alone, but by that word of God. Well, turn to Luke 12. Listen
to this. Let's start right here. In Luke
12, verse 15, in Luke 12. He said, Now I warn you, he said
in Luke 12, verse 15, he said to them, take heed now and beware
of covetousness. A man of my consistent knowledge
of the things which he possesses. He spake a parable of this man
in Luke 12, verse 16. He spake a parable and said that
the ground was certain which the man brought forth. What a
pleasure for him. And he thought within himself,
saying, now, what am I going to do? I have no room where I
can store my troops. He said, this is what I'll do.
I'll pull down some barns. We have very good barns, and
there I'll store my troops, and that's how I'm going to rush
people now. And I said to myself, now I'm
told you ain't got much to complain of for many years. You'll have
a happy old lady. You should take what I need,
eat, drink, and be merry. Because I'll tell you, I proved
it. I proved it. The lady's going to spend her
time and effort for that which is going to be taken away just
in a few hours. The second thing I believe he's
talking about is false religion. Because he said it in Isaiah
45. I said forty-five versus twenty. I said forty-five to twenty.
Now, simply because they're all here together, you cannot escape
from the nations. They have no knowledge except
under the rule of their great leaders, and Christ, their God,
they can't see. Foolishness. Why is it, in time,
away from effort, purity, purity, the best of everything, he takes
out the seed of faith in himself? That's not good. That's not great. That's not satisfaction. That's
not good for the soul. But yet, in religion, you know,
in religion, trying to find something to give peace, peace is in Christ. Peace is only in the Cross. Peace
is only in the right relationship with God. Peace is called on
God who cares for everything. That's the power of it. It's satisfying, it keeps, it
glorifies, it keeps on going. We've got all power to do all
things. This is coming. Harvard didn't
say this in verse two. I don't spend the money and time
and labor and energy and effort for that which is not great,
and the labor for that which is unsatisfied. Harvard did it
to stand the least, and eat that which is good. He doesn't look
at it like that. He eats that which is good and
lets his soul delight itself. You know what that fatness is?
It's the fatness of His house. Let me show you that in Psalm
36. Listen. I want you to turn this way. This is the message here. It says here in Psalm 36, You
hearken to Me, ye that which is good, or let your soul divide
itself in fatness. Listen to Psalm 36 for the first
time. Psalm 36, verse 5, hear our gracious
cry. Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the
heavens. Thy faithfulness reaches unto
the clouds. Thy righteousness is like the
great mountains. Thy judgments are great indeed,
O Lord. Thy preservance of man is least.
How excellent is Thy loving-kindness, O God! Therefore the children
of men put their trust under the shadow of Thy wings, and
they shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of our hearts,
and thou shalt make them drink of the river of our pleasure,
for with Thee is the fountess of life." Well, there it is.
That's what it is. That's what it is. Now, verse three,
we go back to this instruction. I want you to He's speaking to
us here. Now this is faithfulness of God. This is worship service. This
is instruction. All of us are disciples. I am
inclined to be here. Now that's for a simple way to
do it. Inclined to be here. Not work,
love, watch. This. That's what it is. This. Now, that's sad, because
of the mission. Folks who make the religious
pilgrimage is everywhere. They go to Mecca, they go to
Jerusalem, they go to Nashville, they go to Hampstead, Indiana,
they go to the front of the church, they go to Preece, they go down
to Bethlehem. They make a lot of pilgrimage.
He said, you've come to me. We don't come Christ is our head
of the temple, don't we? We have a temple. He's tabernacled
among us. Come with me. We have a priest. He's not down there in that old
cold building. We have a priest, a great high
priest, he's turned over the hills. We have a great high priest,
Jesus Christ the righteous. We have a priest. And we have
an altar. Do you know the name of the altar?
It's not up in front of the church. Christ is our altar. We have
an oath in the Scripture, it says, that they have no right
to eat what serves Adam and Eve, and serve their own servants.
Christ is our altar. We have sacrificed His blood. We have a covenant. We have a
respect for faith. You know what it is? We believe
that the heart of the cross can summon the living. Come to me. All right, here,
let's play two. Now, here's the question. Here, here and so will be. You know, that's where something
is. Here and so will be. And you
ain't good on that preaching? My Lord ain't good on it. He
said, verily I say unto you, he that killeth my brethren,
that believes on him that sent me, hath everlasting life. Hear,
and ye shall live. Just hear it, hear it loud. That's
the promise, Jesus, hear it loud. That believes on him that sent
me, hath everlasting life. Hear, and ye shall live. That's the promise, Jesus, hear it loud.
That believes on him that sent me, hath everlasting life. Hear, and ye
shall live. That's the promise, Jesus, hear it loud. That's the promise,
Jesus, hear it loud. That's the promise, Jesus, hear it loud. That's the promise, Jesus, hear
it loud. That's the promise, Jesus, hear it loud. That's the promise,
Jesus, hear it loud. That's the promise, Jesus, hear
it loud. That's the promise, Jesus, hear it loud. That's the promise, Jesus, hear it loud. That's the
promise, Jesus, hear it loud. That's the promise, Jesus, hear it loud. That's the promise,
Jesus, hear it loud. Brother Barber, you say, this is not
some gal in the band. This is one that's out. This
is God speaking. You live right in your ear, and
you come to me, and you hear, and I'm going to come to you,
an everlasting coming with you. And I read about that to you
over here in the book of Jeremiah. This is enriched. I'll make a
cousin of you. Jeremiah 32. That's certain. That's certain. Here it is. Jeremiah 32, 38, 2. They'll be my people. And I'll
be their God. And I'll send everybody. The doctor's all right. She's
had some nose bleeding out. This is the last month or two. She said to me, it started last
night. It went for 15 minutes last night.
It went two or three days. It's not a blood pressure. It's
not what it is. It's some weakness. But she said last night, I hope
this doesn't happen in Germany. And I knew when she got out of
the hospital. So she's all right. And that,
you know, that we had a way of getting spanked, so if anybody
thought I was on jail, what's the problem? If anybody thought I was on jail, what's the problem?
If anybody thought I was on jail, what's the problem? If anybody thought I
was on jail, what's the problem? If anybody thought I was on jail, what's
the problem? If anybody thought I was on jail, what's the problem? If
anybody thought I was on jail, what's the problem? If anybody thought I was on jail,
what's the problem? If anybody thought I was on jail,
what's the problem? If anybody thought I was on jail, what's the problem?
If anybody thought I was on jail, what's the problem? If anybody thought I was on jail,
what's the problem? If anybody thought I was on jail,
what's the problem? If anybody thought I was on jail, what's
the problem? If anybody thought I was on jail, what's the problem?
If anybody thought I was on jail, what's the There'll be my people, I'll be their God,
verse thirty-nine. And I'll give them one heart
and one way, that they may fear me forever, for the good of them,
their children, after them. And I'll make an everlasting
covenant with them. I'll not turn away from them,
but do this willingly. And I'll put my fear in their
hearts, and they won't depart from me." That's a sweet blessing
covenant. And it's a sure verse, it's a
statement. pure, certain, mercies of faith. And this is not faith that, when
Isaiah wrote this, was dead and buried. This is the Son of Man,
the Lord Jesus Christ. That's His Son. That's our faith. That's our faith, that the pure
mercies of our faith, the Lord Jesus Christ. Because all the promises of God
and Him, In verse 4 now, and here's where we all start talking
about Jesus, our Savior, in whom the sheer mercy is the best.
All the promises of God are in Him. Let me read you a verse.
You just hold that right there, and let me quickly read you a
verse over here of what Paul says about those promises. He
says this, that the promises of God in Christ are yes, yeah,
and in Christ are amen. But sure, the glory of God. The
glory of God. For all the promises of God are
in Him, yes, and they are in the glory of God. He which establishes us with
you in Christ and hath the love of us in God. Isn't that true? So look at what he says about
it in verse four. I have given him, or Jesus Christ,
as a witness, or witness to the people, He's our true and rightful
witness, revelation, true and rightful witness. He's our prophet,
our well-seconded, He's our leader, He's our priest, and He's our
commander, He's our king. He's our prophet, priest, and
our king. And then He speaks to our sons.
He speaks to his son here in verse four. He says, The whole
Bible, the word of Jesus, shall call a nation by moose. Now,
he's talking about the Gentiles here. He's talking about the
Gentiles. And nations that do not believe
shall run to thee, run to Christ, you and the Gentiles. That's
what he's talking about, the promise of Christ to the Gentiles. Why?
Because of the whole Bible. And for the Holy One of Israel,
for He is the Holy Father of Israel. Father, glorify thy son,
thy son, and glorify thee." One time, the Lord Jesus spoke along
that line, and the father spoke back to him. He said, Father,
glorify thy maid. And the father spoke and said,
I have glorified it, and I glorify thee. And then the Lord Jesus
said, Glorify my people, for the glory which thou hast given
me. That's what we're interested in here, is the I glorify you,
and because I glorify you, I glorify them with me. All right, first six. Now, we've
got the first six. Seek the Lord. Seek the Lord. By the name of the Father, the
Son, and the Holy Spirit. Because anyone here tonight that
has not received from God an assurance, a confidence, a relationship
with Him, that is here and does not have that self, that I am
in Christ, I believe and confess all the bad things, Let's hear
it. You seek the Lord by the way
you found Him. Well, quickly, where do you seek the Lord? Well,
I'll tell you where you seek the Lord. Number one, you seek
Him in the Word, just what we're doing tonight, in the Word. Faith comes by hearing, hearing
the Word of God. Christ is revealed in the Word.
You seek Him in the Word. Secondly, you seek Him in the
assembly, where He's loved. Go where people are who love
Christ, and He'll be there. And He said, where two or three
of them are there, that's where I am. So seeking any bird, seeking
among those who love Him, because that's where He is. And then
birds seeking in the preaching of the gospel. First of all,
preaching Christ. Because if we start with a foolishness
of preaching, it's how you get people to believe. I've been
a minister a long, long time, and a pastor of churches a long,
long time, and I have found very few people who've been saved
sitting around in a circle talking, staring, arguing, and bitching.
Most everybody I know who's been saved has been saved under the
preaching of the Word of God, preaching in the primal spirit.
Preaching where God has anointed a person to exalt Christ. Is
it here? Or is it here? And that's where
I see it. In His Word, in His symbol, where
He's loved, and when somebody's preaching the gospel. Preaching the gospel. Seeking
Him. Well, this verse says here, seek
Him while He may be found. That's why there's also this
person. Why there is this person. I tell you also, if I love him,
he is awakened. I found this to be true in the
ministry of 51 years, in the pastor of 51 years. I found that
seasons was great. So he found that there's seasons.
There's sowing time, and there's plowing time, and there's watering
time, and there's And this is the time to read. And this is
the time to read what heaven's been saying. And that's the perfect
time to get dead terrified. When somebody from the Lord says, pass me on, General Staker, dear brother,
I'm going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to
cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going
to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm
going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to
cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to
cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm
going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to cry, I'm going to
cry, I'm going to cry, And I speak for the Lord, and His Word, and
His seventh-grade love, and the preaching of the gospel, and
by the gospel being great, and by the others being weaker. And I tell you what He's saying to
you here. My eyes are set here. My eyes are set here. And I'm going to guarantee you
tomorrow, most of the time if I say it to you tomorrow, you're
going to obey me. But I'm still here. That's why
he said in 3 AC 7, he said, Serve the Lord in the days of our youth,
when the evil days come not, when you say, I've got no pressure. I've got no weakness. I've got
no weakness. And then, for a second, I don't
look at this the moment we're here. And, you know, some people
are taking this by our name, ungodly, Christians are ungodly.
I had a friend one time, he was a singer that song, After Cross.
His name was Glenn Parker. And he'd come and listen to us
preach, but there was no particular sound. He got upset over it.
It's the exact opposite. Elijah did my Savior's will.
He did my sovereign's Bible. He before the flesh takes the
head for subject. Learned was I. He said, I'm the
Lord. You're not going to talk. I'm
the Lord. You know what I'm saying? Well,
God says we are. Well, listen to what he says.
He's right. That's the way it is. Well, it's actually pretty
good. That's a fast word. Let's get it done. Let me say
something. Don't be offended by this scripture,
who calls us weak, ungodly, unrighteous, and worms. Actually, the word
thou worm, Jacob, for God said, thou worm, Jacob, you would have
heard it in this magazine, Weekly Magazine. Don't be offended by that. Actually,
there's no nice way to describe sin, isn't there? Can you imagine,
John? Can any of you fellas think there's
a nice way to describe sin? There's no nice way. And here's
the reason. Listen. Let the wicked forsake
his way, and the unrighteous man's thoughts, and let him return
to the Lord. Now, here's the problem. Let
him return to God. Let him return to God. And God, if he wants to use the
Lord, And He'll have mercy. That's promised. God will show
mercy. You turn to Him, He'll show mercy.
Do it. And so our God is abundantly,
richly powerful. He's precious in grace, precious
in mercy. David said, I was deaf, I was
deaf, but I proudly know God. O Lord, thou shalt mark on me
what the Jews say, and say, Forgiveness, please." And there it is. That's
a wicked, forsaken way. A young, righteous man is taught,
and a young godly boy, they return to the Lord. And our God has
mercy. He'll run with the fire. I don't have to spend a lot of time on
wickedness here. I don't spend time on mercy.
I spend time on mercy. Mercy. God exceeds our wickedness. Abundantly exceeds our wickedness. I'll read it for a second. Here our Lord goes back to our
wickedness compared to His cruelness, and our hunger compared to His
abundance. My thoughts are not your thoughts,
and your ways are not my ways, for the heavens are higher than
the earth. So are my ways, and I have new
ways of my thoughts of yours." That's a pretty good distance.
No, no. The writer said, "...one cannot conceive a greater distance
than from heaven to earth." There's no greater distance than from
paradise to earth, both in space and spirit. I raise you in the name of Christ,
Jesus Christ, pure fleshly love, pure spirit. Our thoughts and
ways are evil, His perfect evil. Our thoughts and ways perish
with us. His thoughts and purposes are
everlasting, everlasting, glory be to God. And I'll tell you, we came to find
it in ourselves, so they got our shotguns. and surrender,
and submit, and admit that this is who we are and what we are.
He is your mercy. He is abundant in power. He promises
it. But where in one's mind are the
thoughts and ways of God? The mind and ways of God? Well,
look at verse 10 and 11. I want to show you something
here that I think is pretty clear. You read both of them together
now. For the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and
returneth not thither, but it robs the earth, and maketh it
bring forth some blood, that it may give speed to the soul
of bread to eat." Oh, what's the purpose of rain and sun?
What's the purpose of rain and sun? He practices it. It comes
down from heaven, and it robs the earth of rain and sun. that
it may get close to me in the seed of the soul. It comes down
from heaven that it might water the earth and bring forth fruit,
and bring forth blood, and supply all the creatures and people
of this earth with fruit. Thus for that, slowly but not
alert, it brought forth from my mouth Kṛṣṇa not returning
to be born, but shall accomplish that which I please, to prosper
the things unto which I send Him." What's the purpose of the
word? To send Spirit-ship as a rain-and-snow material, a vision. The word of God comes about for
quickness, to convict, to convert, to get life. And that's the rain and the snow
that comes from God, and it doesn't return to heaven nor earth. That's
right. He says, if the rain comes down,
the snowman returns not with us, but it bothers me from source
to source. Not worth it. Who heard the word
of God? The priest. I say that it's not
Lord God, not Lord God, it's to accomplish the purpose of
which I say. I set the reign to make that, and it's going
well. It's made it well. My people
want to have some of this. And I send the word of God to
convict, and to quicken, and to get rid of my sheep. Look at verse 11 and then think
about this verse of Scripture, John the 10th. Listen to me.
You look at this. So shall my word. You're talking about his
word. All right. Now listen to this
right here, men. Look up. He said, my she. He said, my word and my she.
All right. Look at that. And my word goes
out of my mouth. John 10th, my she, said my Lord. And he shall not return unto
me, nor will he." And they followed him. She gave him her voice,
and they followed him. And he shall accomplish that
which I please, and I'll give him eternal life. And it's as
possible as they put it to our sin that they'll never perish,
and no matter what they talk about about him. That's the Word. Rain comes down, snow comes down.
God sent me. He sent me for a purpose, to
make rest. Now, some places it doesn't grow
anything. Some places, too cold, too barren,
too desert, too much desert. But where God intends it, the
twenty-fourth foot is bungalow. And my work, my sheep, they're
nowhere. They follow me. I give you eternal
life, and I love you faithfully. You shall accomplish that which
you have seen. I love you any closer than the
first one. And you shall go out of the jaw, out of bondage, out
of the hardness, out of the moans and curses of love, with joy.
There's no happiness in the world but in being at peace with God.
That's what happiness is. That's what joy is. That's what
truth joy is. That's the only true joy we can have in this
earth is His joy. Your joy may be over. You'll be led toward peace. Christ
is our peace. We're imperfect. We're going to still be imperfect
when we die. But in Christ we're perfect.
We're at peace with God. It's what it's all about at the
moment. You're late with this, all right? You've received the
wrong pebbles for all these years. You should bother with that.
There's no war between you and your children. Are your children
perfect? No, they're not, but you love them. And his children
aren't either, but he loves them. Amen. And the manacles in the
hills shall break forth before you at the same time. And all
the trees in the fields shall crack their veins. Instead of
the thorn, she'll come up the fir tree. Instead of the briar,
she'll come up the myrtle tree. And she'll leave to the Lord
for a name. His name. God gave Him a name
above every name. It's the name of Jesus Christ,
everything about what we're talking today. He's Lord. Whenever that's been signed,
it will not be cut off. I wonder if we could turn to
2.2. And just see, without any doubt, just what exactly we're
about to go over, Satan is a calm spirit. Jesus, I tell you, is
that what he says? Calm, calm, calm. Everyone says, calm. He's a fool. He has
no money. Prabhupāda. You may bow down.
I was just going to stand. I was just going to stand. Jesus, I come into thy freedom,
land and water. Jesus, I come to Thee. Out of my sickness into Thy health,
out of my woe, and into thy will. Out of my sin and into thy will, Jesus,
I come to thee. Out of the fear and dread of
the tomb, Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come, into the joy and light
of thy home. Even I come to Thee Out of the
depths of ruin and woe Into the deeps of my sheltering foe Till
thy glorious praise to me, O Jesus, I come to Thee.
Henry Mahan
About Henry Mahan

Henry T. Mahan was born in Birmingham, Alabama in August 1926. He joined the United States Navy in 1944 and served as a signalman on an L.S.T. in the Pacific during World War II. In 1946, he married his wife Doris, and the Lord blessed them with four children.

At the age of 21, he entered the pastoral ministry and gained broad experience as a pastor, teacher, conference speaker, and evangelist. In 1950, through the preaching of evangelist Rolfe Barnard, God was pleased to establish Henry in sovereign free grace teaching. At that time, he was serving as an assistant pastor at Pollard Baptist Church (off of Blackburn ave.) in Ashland, Kentucky.

In 1955, Thirteenth Street Baptist Church was formed in Ashland, Kentucky, and Henry was called to be its pastor. He faithfully served that congregation for more than 50 years, continuing in the same message throughout his ministry. His preaching was centered on the Lord Jesus Christ and Him crucified, in full accord with the Scriptures. He consistently proclaimed God’s sovereign purpose in salvation and the glory of Christ in redeeming sinners through His blood and righteousness.

Henry T. Mahan also traveled widely, preaching in conferences and churches across the United States and beyond. His ministry was marked by a clear and unwavering emphasis on Christ, not the preacher, but the One preached. Those who heard him recognized that his sermons honored the Savior and exalted the name of the Lord Jesus Christ above all.

Henry T. Mahan served as pastor and teacher of Thirteenth Street Baptist Church in Ashland, Kentucky for over half a century. His life and ministry were devoted to proclaiming the sovereign grace of God and directing sinners to the finished work of Christ. He entered into the presence of the Lord in 2019, leaving behind a lasting testimony to the gospel he faithfully preached.
