1 Corinthians 1

In Paul Mahan's sermon titled "The Call & Confirmation of Christ," the primary theological topic discussed is the concept of God's sovereign call and confirmation of His people through the gospel. Mahan argues that true calling is not based on human free will but is entirely the action of God who summons and saves His chosen ones. He supports his points with Scripture references, including 1 Corinthians 1:9, John 1:12-13, John 10:3-4, and Romans 1:20, each illustrating how God's call transforms the dead into the living and is universally declared through creation and Scripture. The practical significance lies in the deep assurance of salvation found in God's effectual call and continual confirmation, emphasizing that Christ is everything to believers, who are entirely dependent on Him for their salvation and sanctification.

Key Quotes

“The call of Christ is the gospel. The call of Christ is the gospel.”

“You were called here. You didn't come here of your own so-called free will. No, you didn't.”

“He gives unto them eternal life and they shall never perish.”

“God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise.”

What does the Bible say about the call of Christ?

The Bible depicts the call of Christ as effectual, meaning God calls His chosen people to faith through the gospel, empowering them to respond.

The call of Christ is fundamentally about God's initiative in salvation, as expressed throughout Scripture. Paul emphasizes in 1 Corinthians 1:9 that God is faithful by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ. This illustrates that the call is not merely an invitation but a commanding act of God, bringing those He has chosen into a relationship with Christ. Moreover, this call is explored in terms of effectuality in the Gospel of John, where Jesus states that no one can come to Him unless the Father draws them (John 6:44). Thus, it is God who enables the hearts of the unregenerate to respond to His truth, showcasing His sovereign grace in the process of salvation.

1 Corinthians 1:9, John 6:44

How do we know election is true?

Election is affirmed in Scripture as God's sovereign choice of individuals for salvation, seen clearly in passages like Ephesians 1:4-5.

The biblical doctrine of election emphasizes God's sovereign choice in salvation. Ephesians 1:4-5 asserts that God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, demonstrating that salvation is rooted in His will and purpose, not in our own actions. Throughout the sermon, the preacher notes how God's election is not based on foreseen merit but solely on His grace and purpose. This affirms that those who are called into fellowship with Christ have been chosen by God, highlighting the comfort that this brings to believers about their secure standing in Him. Election as a doctrine assures us that our salvation is orchestrated by a wise and loving God who knows and fulfills His will in our lives.

Ephesians 1:4-5, Romans 8:29-30

Why is the effectual call important for Christians?

The effectual call is crucial as it ensures that God's chosen people will inevitably respond to His gospel and attain salvation.

The effectual call signifies that when God calls an individual to salvation, it is accompanied by the power of the Holy Spirit which enables them to respond in faith. This is illustrated in John 10:27, where Jesus states, 'My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.' The shepherd's voice represents the call of Christ which leads His followers to spiritual life. The importance of this doctrine lies in the assurance it provides to believers; they can trust that their response to the gospel is a response to God's sovereign initiative. It emphasizes that salvation is not dependent on human decision but rooted in God's grace, affirming the believer's security in Christ and encouraging them to persevere in faith as they recognize His ongoing call in their lives.

John 10:27, Romans 8:30

What does 'confirmation' mean in the context of the Christian faith?

Confirmation refers to the stabilizing assurance that believers receive regarding the truth of the gospel and their relationship with Christ.

In the Christian context, confirmation is closely tied to the assurance of faith and the evidencing of God's truth in the believer's life. The preacher notes that as the testimony of Christ is confirmed in believers, they experience a stabilizing effect that reinforces their faith. This is articulated in 1 Corinthians 1:6, where it mentions that the testimony of Christ was confirmed in the Corinthians. This confirmation occurs through the continual preaching of the gospel and the work of the Holy Spirit, who assures the believer of their salvation and God's promises. Confirmation serves to build up the faith of Christians, making them more steadfast and secure in their relationship with Christ, affirming that their salvation is grounded in God's firm foundation.

Excellent. Excellent hymn. Go back to 1 Corinthians now with me. We're not going to deal with all these verses. It's a long chapter, but we're going to deal with some thoughts here, some truths. We are going to study the scriptures, though, and we're going to turn especially through the Gospel of John. The title and the subject is the call and confirmation of Christ. Our Lord Jesus Christ, Spirit of God, calls his people, those whom he loves, those whom he saves, he calls them by the gospel.

You read with me how that Paul wrote that this is what God is pleased to use, preaching in the gospel, to call. And you see, you're calling us. It's my calling. The Lord called me through the preaching of the gospel, through a man preaching. I pray and John prayed that the Lord would call someone and keep calling us. This is how he keeps calling his people. Look at verses one and two. Paul called an apostle of Jesus Christ. Every preacher's called. It's a calling. Something you apply for and you candidate for.

No, no, it's a calling of God, by the will of God. And Sostenes, our brother, unto the church of God at Corinth, or Rocky Mount, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, that's to mean chosen, put in Christ, separated from the world, given to Jesus Christ, for him to make them His people. Called to saints, called to be saints. Sanctified one, called of God to be His people.

In every place, with all, read on, verse two. With all in every place, all the saints that call. This is one way you know if the Lord's called you, you call on Him. Nobody would call until he first calls them. So we don't, I don't preach, I don't call on people to accept Jesus or come down front or do any of that thing. I just declare Christ.

And it's completely up to him to call. And he does. He does. All right. God does everything by his word. It's called the word of his power. The call is a command of God. God does everything by his word, by calling, by commanding. Listen to Psalm 50. The mighty God, the Lord, has spoken and called the earth from the rising of the sun to going down thereof. I'd love to keep but it goes on to say, he shall call to the heavens from above and to the earth that he may judge his people.

Gather my saints together unto me. You were called here. You didn't come here of your own so-called free will. No, you didn't. And you're so blessed. Blessed are they that are called. Blessed. There's a twofold way that God Creation, creation speaks and calls and declares and reveals to every single human being that God is. Listen to Psalm 19, listen to this. Creation calls mankind, the heavens declare. The glory of God. The firmament showeth his handiwork. Day unto day uttereth speech. I just read, God calls to the heavens and the earth. Show people I am. There's no speech or language where this voice, this call is not heard. No speech or language. In Romans 1, let me read this to you. In Romans 1.

He says, the invisible things of God from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead, so that man is without excuse. The heavens declare that God is, God is. Everything, everything, but man, but man is a rebel. against God.

Man is dead in trespasses and sins. Man cannot hear this call. And if he does see, but he rejects it and will not believe it. He will not. And so our Lord in Proverbs 1 says this, because I've called and you refused. You're gonna call on me someday, and I'm not gonna answer. That's what God said. The fact is, none of us will call. None of us will believe unless God calls.

And so God, rich in mercy, for his great love got his love. where His great love, where with He loved some people, many people, as the stars of the sky and the sands of the sea shore, calls some of these dead sinners, some of these rebels against God.

How does He do it? What I'm doing right now. The world calls it foolishness, don't they? But those who have been called, it's the power of God and the wisdom of God. There's an effectual call, there's a general call. Everybody, Paul said, have they not all heard?

Yeah, barely. Creation declares it. The scriptures. The scriptures declare God. And you'd be hard pressed to find somebody that hadn't read something or heard something in the Bible, wouldn't you? But do men believe this is God's word? No. No, they don't. gives an effectual, that means when he calls, we answer. Scripture says he calls his people from death to life. Calls them out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Like in the beginning of creation. This is the way the new creation is made. Recreation or salvation. Let there be light. And that's the first thing. And God called the light day. He does everything by this call, he said. And God called, all right? So go with me to the Gospel of John. If you have a Bible, let's do a little Bible study on this effectual call. particular, saving call. This is a call of God, he and he only, can and must do, and it's effectual, it's saving, and it's continual.

He never quits calling those he calls to say. Look at John chapter one. John chapter one. I don't even know where John is. I'm turning around. All right. John chapter one. Let's just do a little Bible study here, okay? Effectual call. Look at John chapter one, verse 10.

He was in the world. The world was made by him. The world knew him not. Now, Our Lord did things, the Lord Jesus Christ is God, manifest in the flesh. And he did things, this is what Peter preached at Pentecost. He did things that only God can do. Make something out of nothing, turn water into wine. Open the eyes of the blind, ears of the deaf. Raise the dead. Right?

He did only things, Well, he was in the world, the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. They said, you're just a man, and you make yourself to be God. It's the other way around, people. He was God, and he made himself a man. You understand? But man's blind. He can't see that until the Lord reveals himself to him. When Thomas and his disciples finally found out, when he revealed himself, they said, you're my Lord, you're our God. We know who you are. Verse 11, he came unto his own, that is, he owns all souls, and his own received him not.

But, look at verse 12, as many as received him, that doesn't say except, does it? How many times have I? It doesn't say accept Jesus in the Bible. It doesn't say that anywhere. That means you can either accept him or reject him. No, no, no, no. We've all rejected him. And our hope is that he'll accept us and we will receive this call. Okay? He doesn't ask us to do anything. He calls. All right, look at verse 12.

As many as received Him, to them gave He power, the right, the privilege to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name, which were born, not of blood, or heritage, Jew, or whatever, nor the will of the flesh, nor the will of man, but of God, born of God.

And Simon Peter said, We've begotten of God through the word of truth. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. All right, look at John chapter six. John chapter six, go over here. John chapter six. Our Lord is speaking. And many people heard him, but very few people believed him. John chapter six, verse 33.

We just prayed for holy manna to come down, didn't we? What is holy manna? Christ is. The word is, but it's the word of Christ. Verse 33, the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven. and giveth life unto the world, meaning it's dead, everybody's dead until he gives life. Verse 34, then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life.

He that cometh to me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. But wait a minute, how does somebody come? He has to call them. They won't come, read on. Verse 36, I said unto you, you've seen me and you believe not. All that the Father giveth me shall come to me. And him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. Don't you love that? If you've been called, you do. Look at verse 44, no man can come to me except the Father which hath sent me Draw him and I will raise him up at the last day. It's written in the prophet, they shall be all taught of God. Who? Everyone given to Christ. Everyone chosen. Every man therefore that has heard and learned of the Father cometh unto me. Well, how do they come?

Chapter eight. Go to John eight. Go to John eight with me. Now you know these things. I do, too. I'm enjoying this. This is the call. You keep hearing the same things over and over again, over and over again. You never get tired of that. My wife calls on me, and I call on her, and we call on one another.

You ever get tired of hearing one another call? Not if you love them, if you know them, do you? No. You get worried if they don't, right? You upset with me? Why aren't you calling me? No, no, no, no. He said, my sheep hear my voice. Chapter eight, I'm getting ahead of myself. Look at verse 42. He said to some of these religious people, if God were your father, see God's not everyone's father. He's the father of those that are born of God. Verse 42, if God were your father, you would love me. For I proceeded forth and came from God, neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

Why do you not understand my speech? Even because you cannot hear my word. You can't. Verse 47. He that is of God, heareth God's words. Do you? Are you hearing that? What do you think about what you've heard so far? Some of you smiling. Smiling. The world is not beating a path to this church house door to hear God's word. The world does go to religion to be entertained and be fed and this and that and the other, and socialize and all that. But God's people come to hear God's word. He that is of God, heareth God's word. That's what they come to hear. And he gives them ears to, this is the call. You understand? Okay, verse 47. I already read that. I'm gonna read it again. He that is of God, heareth God's word. And he said to some, you don't hear them because you're not of God. I'd rather hear other things.

All right, John 10. Go to John chapter 10. John chapter 10, don't you love John 6, John 1, John 2, John 6, John 8, John 10, you've heard these words before, you're hearing them again. This confirms you, this is the confirm, confirmation of the call. John 10. And we sing that song, sing them over again to me. Wonderful words apply. Over and over and over. John 10, verses one through three. Verily, verily, I say unto you, confirmation means, to prove the verity of something, that it's absolutely true. Our Lord says, verily, verily. He is the truth. He is the word. He is the one who called.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same as a thief and a robber, what's the door of heaven? Come on. Religion says he stands at our heart's door and wants in. Is that right? He that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of sheep. He is. He said, I'm the door. To him, the porter openeth. That's the Holy Spirit. And the sheep hear his voice and he calleth his own sheep by name. And what happens? He leads them out. He puts forth his sheep, he goes before them, the sheep follow him, they know his voice, they know it now, wow, he's called him.

Look at verse 10. The thief, that's Satan, that's his ministers, come not but for to steal and kill and destroy, I am come that they might have life. that they might have it more abundant. I am the good shepherd, the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. Verse 24.

Then came the Jews round about and said unto him, how long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. He said, he answered, I told you and you believe not. The works I do in my father's name, they bear witness to me, but you believe not because you're not my sheep.

As I said unto you, my sheep hear my voice. I know them and they follow me. And I give unto them eternal, are you listening to this? I give unto them that I've called. They've done nothing. He came to give them life from the dead by the call. And he says, I give unto them eternal life and this life is in him. I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish. Do you love that? Neither shall any man, man's in italics, Neither shall anything or anyone pluck them out of my hand." Isn't that wonderful?

It's an effectual, it's a particular, it's a saving, it's an eternal It's a continual call, and God's people hear it, his voice, his word, his gospel, and they keep coming. To whom coming? To whom coming? To whom coming? They might wander, but he calls them again, and they come back. To whom coming? To whom coming? You can't wander too far, because his arm is not short. And his arm is the gospel. And you may think you can do without it, but not if you're called. And he'll call you back.

I told you so many times. I preached a little while, and I'm going to tell you something. So many times about my old dog that I chose. I went to a breeder looking for a particular dog, and I found this one. And he was the blackest in the whole litter. There was a bunch of them. I could choose any dog I wanted. I had the money. But I called this one. And I named him, gave him a name. And I bought him, I paid money for him. I redeemed him, okay? I paid money for that dog. And this is all a picture of the gospel, you see. This is what Christ did for his people.

I chose that dog, he didn't choose me. He wasn't calling on me. He didn't know me. But I called him. I chose him. I bought him. I wrote a contract to agree to take care of him from then on. I brought him, put him in the truck with me, and brought him home to my house. My dog. My dog. And I talked to him like a human. He's just a dog. Hold on there. That's my dog. I love him. Don't you say anything about my dog. Oh, he's no better than the other dogs. No, he's not. He's just a dog. But he's my dog. And I brought him home. I taught him. I trained him, I taught him. One of the first things I taught him to do was sit at my feet.

Sit. He maketh us, when the Lord calls his own, he maketh us to lie down, to sit at his feet like Mary Magdalene, to hear his word. We won't until he does this. I made him sit down. I made him lie down. I named him. I gave him a name, Abner. And I called him. And the first thing I told him was to come.

Come. Come. I kept calling him until he would come to me. Come to me. And you know what? He would come to me for the rest of his life when I called him. Every time. Oh, he got in trouble. He got over with other dogs. You know these stories. And if I hadn't called him back, he would have destroyed himself. But I kept calling him, come, and he would come at my feet. Does the Lord keep calling you through the gospel? He can't stay away if he doesn't. This is confirmation. He's called you. Go back to 1 Corinthians chapter one again, if you're not there. 1 Corinthians, the call of Christ is the gospel. The call of Christ is the gospel. First Corinthians chapter one, look at this. Look at verse nine.

It says, God is faithful by whom you were called under the fellowship of his son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. You've been called into the family of God. If you've heard this gospel call, you've been called into the family of God, like all those animals were called into the ark. You've been called into the kingdom of God. You've been called to come to Christ. You've brought in, you put in, and I'm gonna end with this, of God are you in? All right, you've been called to come to Christ for everything, and he becomes everything to you. Everything, all your salvation, all your security. Look at verse 17. Now here it is. Here's the gospel call.

He said, Christ sent me not to baptize, or that is for the purpose of seeing how many I could baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with the wisdom of word, but with the, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness. but unto us which are saved are called, it is the power of God. Preaching of the cross. Verse 21. In the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God. It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them to believe. Keep reading.

Jews require a sign, the Greeks seek after wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified. Christ crucified, verse 24, unto them which are called, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. Okay, here's the gospel in two words, Christ crucified. This is how God calls his people. The gospel of Christ crucified. The person and the work of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the gospel. This is the good news. This is the power of God to convict of sin, righteousness, and judgment. This is it. It's the only thing we know. Here is the gospel. Look at verse 20. Six, you see your calling, brethren.

Not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, there are none. Where is the wise? There's none wise, no, not one. What about the good? There's none good, no, not one. What about the righteous? There's none righteous, John prayed that day. None righteous, no, not one.

That's what the scripture said. Noble, mighty, what can you do? What can I do? Nothing. Christ said this. Without me, you can do nothing. You won't come, you can't hear, you're dead in trespass. Read on. But God, are you with me? Ephesians 2 says, and you who were dead in trespass sin hath he quickened by calling you for the gospel. You see your calling, brethren?

God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. God hath chosen weak things of the world, that's all of us, to confound the things which are mighty, base things, things that are despised. have God chose. Things that are not, nobody's, and nothing to bring to naught. Things that are, that no flesh should glory in his presence.

Now here's the gospel. Of God are you in Christ Jesus. This is sovereign election. That God Almighty chose whom he would save and calls him by the gospel. What's the first thing he tells him? I chose you. You can't begin the gospel without election. That's what Peter wrote in his epistle, didn't he? He didn't write a few words before he said, elect according to the foreknowledge of God. What are you talking about, Peter? Well, Peter said, okay, I'll tell you my story.

I was fishing. Fishing was my life. The boats, the nets, that's what I lived for. Fishing. Recreation, well, it wasn't recreation, you know, the way to make money, but he did love the sea and the nets and the boats and the outdoors and all that, and loved those things. That was his life, okay? One day, he was washing his nets, and this man walks on the shore. He's walking on the shore, and calls out to Simon Peter two words. follow me, and walks off. And Peter drops everything, his nets, his boats, his brother, his cousins, and starts following this man.

And that man is Jesus Christ. Now, Jesus Christ came by Simon Peter's boat and called him and his brother, walked down a little further, saw another boat with James and John in it, called them, not their father, them. And they dropped everything and followed Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ chose them and called them, okay? Or they wouldn't have come. And so Peter, when he's writing his story, he says, we're elect according to the four knowledge of God. God chose me. I didn't choose him.

Okay. All right. Of God, are you in Christ Jesus? I brought up those animals in Noah's ark. They didn't get there because they decided to. They got there because Noah went out and called him and brought him in. All right. God purposed. whom he did foreknow, he did predestinate, whom he predestinated, he called to do what? To do nothing. But to be in Christ, to come to Christ, to be in his kingdom. I've called you. You're mine, he said. And he bought him and brought him and taught him, read on. I've got, are you in Christ Jesus, who I've got is made unto us wisdom.

By his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify me, the scripture said. We don't know God, we don't know the law, we don't know what to do, we don't know if we're coming or going, do we? Christ does and did and came to do for his people everything they needed to do. To keep the law for them, to be righteousness for them, honor God's law, glorify God, Put away their sin by the sacrifice we've said. Look at this. He's made on us wisdom and righteousness. It sounds like doctrine. It is. But do you see that Christ is everything to you? Is Christ everything to you? This is what he calls his people to understand.

That you're an ignorant fool is what you are. That you're nothing, no, you're not good and wise and mighty, no, you're a nothing, a nobody from nowhere, and I didn't call you because I need you, I called you because you need me. You're so foolish and ignorant, you didn't know you needed me. But God, he says, rich in mercy and grace, to some of these ignorant fools who he called and said, you didn't answer, you wouldn't answer, you rejected me, and I did, I rejected him.

But God says, no, you won't either. Oh no, you won't. Like salt of Tarsus. I won't believe that. I hate that way. Oh, you're gonna love this way. I'm gonna make you love it. It's the only way you will. The world doesn't care about righteousness and sanctification and redemption and propitiation and reconciling.

What's that got to do with anything? It's got everything to do with everything. These are blessed truths that God reveals to his people. And he reveals to all of them that Christ is all of these things to them, that he did all of these things for them. And this is what he confirms in them by this preaching of the gospel. He keeps confirming.

Do you understand that? Do you know this? That Christ is our righteousness. If righteousness come by keeping any commandment, by us doing anything, here's what the scripture says. Christ died in vain. You see how serious that is? It says if you be circumcised, meaning if you try to do anything for God to accept you by what you do, Christ didn't need to come. Christ profits you nothing. You really don't believe Christ is all.

But now he reveals to all of his people, he confirms in all of them, that he is all, our righteousness. He convicts the world, John 16, our Lord says the Holy Spirit will convince of sin, righteousness, and judgment. It's like that simple fellow that the Pharisees, the religious people were examining his profession of faith.

And they said, what is your body of divinity? He said, I don't know. He said, all I know is I'm just a sinner and nothing at all, and Jesus Christ is my all in all. Oh, they said, well, hmm. Well, but what is your creed? What is your doctrinal creed? I don't know what you're talking about, but this I know. I'm a sinner and nothing at all, but Jesus Christ is my all in all. Well, hmm. Well, what is your stand on eschatology? And are you a pre-lapsarian or super-lapsarian? Are you a pre-post or omnilentist?

I don't even know what you're talking about. But this is one thing I know. Then I'm an old sinner and nothing at all. But Jesus Christ is my own and all. Is that enough? Is that your profession? That's what the Lord confirms to you. The longer you go, the more he'll confirm to you, you're just a sinner and nothing at all.

And can't do nothing at all. You can't keep yourself. You can't resist one temptation. Without him you can do nothing. You can't believe, you can't come, you won't call unless he keeps calling you. So Christ is your hope. You have no righteousness, nothing to commend you to God. Sanctification, what is it that sets you apart from other people? What sets you apart? There's some people that dress a certain way and go out there and avoid this and avoid that, and some of that's okay, but that doesn't set you apart with God, because God looks on the heart.

And fig leaves can't cover. Fig leaves can't cover sin. One thing does. What's that? The blood of Jesus Christ. Sanctification. We confess our sins, the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleanses us, comfort us. It keeps confirming it. And redemption. I started to prepare a whole message on redemption. I still may do that. The word redemption. It's a wonderful word. It means to be ransomed. It means to be rescued. It means to be bought with a price. It means a payment made that you can't make. Oh my, Christ paid it all. All the debt, how it'll go.

Is this all confirmed in you by the gospel? And it says in verse 31, that according as it is written, he that gloryeth, what are you glorying? So many people glory in their religion. They glory in their profession of faith. They glory in this, their knowledge of the Bible. They glory in that. They glory in their abstinence. They glory in this and that and the other. What do you glory in?

Paul said, God forbid. Jeanette, you love this verse. God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of my Lord Jesus Christ. what the Lord Jesus Christ did on Calvary tree for me, all these things. According as it is written, he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

And it says in our text, in closing, look at verse six, 1 Corinthians 1, verse six, as a testimony of Christ was confirmed in you. All these things confirmed in you. You know what the word confirmed means? It means to stabilize. Make stable. Now what's more stable than rock? Rock solid. It means to establish, the word stable in there. On Christ the solid rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand. Christ is all to God's people. He keeps confirming this, establishing this truth, verifying. It means, the dictionary says, give definite assurance of a truth of a matter.

Oh man, have you been called? Has the truth been confirmed in your heart and soul that Christ is of them? Has it? Have you been convicted of your sin? Have you called on Him? Have you confessed Him? All that call, they confess Him. They do. You can't stop them. You have to beg them. They confess the Lord and believers about Him. Yes, they do. Several of you have come to me. I didn't beg you and plead with you. You came to me. One time we were baptizing a bunch of you, and a couple more showed up.

Remember that? Well, huh. Gotta confess him. Gotta confess him. Does this gospel comfort you? Comfort you? It's no coincidence that everything begins with a C. The call, the confirmation, the conviction, the comfort. Where is it? It's in Christ. Because Christ is all. And that's all I got to say about that. All right, let's sing a closing hymn.
