How do we know Christ's righteousness is applied to us?

The application of Christ's righteousness to believers is rooted in the doctrine of imputation. Romans 4:3 states that Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness. This same principle applies to us today; when we believe in Christ, His righteousness is counted as ours, not based on our works, but through God's grace.
