How do we know God does not favor the rich?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that God chooses the poor in faith and that many rich are often blind to their spiritual needs.

Scripture makes it clear that God does not favor the rich in the way society often does. In James 2:5, it is stated that God has chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom. The rich, in their confidence and resources, can become blind to their need for God. Jesus Himself affirms this notion in Matthew 19:24, teaching that it is challenging for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven. This illustrates that spiritual wealth often contrasts with material wealth, emphasizing that true riches are found in faith and relationship with Christ rather than in earthly possessions.
