How do we know God loves us as individuals?

Answered in 1 source

We know God loves us because Scripture assures us of His electing grace and the sacrifice of Christ, demonstrating His everlasting love for sinners.

The assurance of God's love for each individual is rooted in the biblical doctrine of election and redemption. Romans 5:8 expresses this love clearly: 'But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.' This indicates that God's love is proactive and relentless, reaching out to those who are unworthy. Additionally, the teachings on the elect remind us that our identity as chosen ones is a testament to God's love; we are not accidents but rather appointments in His sovereign plan (Ephesians 1:4). Therefore, the knowledge of our being loved comes from recognizing our position as recipients of grace through Christ's sacrifice and the work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts.
