We recognize God's discipline as good because it aligns with scripture, which teaches that all things work together for the good of those who love Him.
The confidence in God's discipline stems from the understanding that He causes all things to work in our favor (Romans 8:28-30). The nature of God's love involves guiding us through trials to remove sin from our lives and draw us closer to Him. The author of Hebrews emphasizes the righteousness of His laws and the faithfulness with which He afflicts us, reminding us that these hardships are good for our spiritual development.
Moreover, just as gold is refined in fire, our afflictions serve to purify and beautify our faith. Recognizing this process allows us to trust that every trial is a form of His loving care, and ultimately, if we could see the bigger picture, we would choose these trials for ourselves for our spiritual growth. In full trust, we can say, 'Father knows best.'
