How do we know God's holiness is significant?

Answered in 1 source

God's holiness is crucial as it establishes the need for a mediator between Him and sinful humanity.

God's holiness is significant because it reveals His perfection and sets the standard for righteousness. In Isaiah 6:3, the seraphim proclaim, 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts.' This attribute of God means that He is completely separate from sin and imperfection. Understanding God's holiness is essential to appreciate the gospel; without it, the necessity of Christ as our mediator is underestimated. As God told Moses, knowing that you are in the presence of Him who is holy compels reverence and acknowledgment of our unworthiness, thus highlighting the grace shown to us in Christ.
