How do we know God's omnipotence is true?

Answered in 8 sources

God’s omnipotence is affirmed through Scripture and the manifestation of His acts in creation, providence, and redemption.

The truth of God's omnipotence is rooted in the biblical narrative and is evidenced through His mighty works. For instance, the creation of the heavens and the earth ex nihilo (out of nothing) showcases His limitless power (Genesis 1:1-3). Moreover, the preservation of creation and the workings of divine providence reveal God’s sovereign control over all things (Hebrews 1:3). His omnipotence is particularly highlighted in the redemptive work of Christ, where God's power is displayed in the incarnation, resurrection, and salvation of the elect (Luke 1:35-37, Romans 1:4). These acts clearly illustrate that God is not only powerful but actively involved in fulfilling His purposes.
