How do we know God wants His people to be happy?

Answered in 1 source

God repeatedly calls His people to be happy, as seen in Jesus' encouragement in Matthew 9:2 and Matthew 14:27.

Throughout the scriptures, God encourages His people to be of good cheer. For instance, in Matthew 9:2, Jesus tells the paralyzed man, 'Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.' This assurance of forgiveness is foundational for believers' happiness. Similarly, in Matthew 14:27, Jesus instructs His disciples amidst their fear to be of good cheer, affirming His presence with them. The consistent message is that our joys are linked to God's promises and presence in our lives, showing that He desires His people to walk in happiness, bolstered by the assurance of salvation and His continued support.
