How do we know our assurance of faith is true?

Answered in 1 source

Our assurance of faith is true when it is grounded in the promises of God and the work of Christ, rather than in our feelings.

We can know our assurance of faith is true by examining the foundations on which it rests. Paul emphasizes in Colossians that this assurance is linked to an acknowledgment of the mystery of God, which refers to the gospel of Jesus Christ. This assurance must be built upon the solid ground of Christ’s sacrificial work, rather than transient feelings or experiences. Believers often face doubts, but when they look to Christ and His promises rather than themselves, their assurance becomes more rooted and established. Moreover, the presence of a longing for assurance and a sincere desire to know Christ are indicators of a genuine faith.
