How do we know that Christians are no longer going astray?

Answered in 1 source

Believers are assured that they are no longer going astray because they have been turned back to Christ, the Shepherd of their souls.

The assurance comes from the transformative work of Christ in the life of a believer. As stated in 1 Peter 2:25, believers once were like sheep going astray but are now returned to the Shepherd and Bishop of their souls. This reflects the sovereign grace of God in bringing His chosen ones to repentance. It underscores the reality that true believers, through divine intervention, recognize their plight and, in turning back to Christ, find safety and direction in Him. The regular need for this turning back indicates an ongoing relationship where believers continually rely on Christ for guidance.
