How do we know that faith and good conscience are connected?

Answered in 1 source

Faith and good conscience are interconnected, each strengthening and supporting the other in the believer's life.

The connection between faith and a good conscience is vital to the Christian experience. What faith believes, the good conscience feels; they work together, growing and waning together. For example, when faith is strong, the good conscience is active, indicating a flourishing spiritual life. Conversely, a weak faith corresponds to a feeble conscience. This symbiotic relationship serves to affirm the authenticity of faith, ensuring it aligns with God's will and leading to a victorious spiritual life ultimately. Thus, to fight the good fight of faith, a believer must hold onto both.
