How do we know that free grace does not lead to a license to sin?

Answered in 1 source

Free grace does not lead to a license to sin because justified believers are dead to sin (Romans 6:2).

The concern that teaching of free grace could lead to moral laxity is addressed by Paul in Romans 6, where he questions, 'Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?' His emphatic response is 'Certainly not!' Justified believers, through their union with Christ, are dead to sin. This means that sin no longer has dominion over them, as they are now empowered by the Spirit to live righteously. The reality of a transformed life is the evidence of true faith; thus, the grace that justifies also sanctifies.
