How do we know that God is sovereign over kingdoms?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible asserts that God establishes and removes kings and kingdoms according to His will.

God's sovereignty over nations and rulers is a central theme in the Book of Daniel. As stated in Daniel 4:17, God rules in the kingdom of heaven and bestows power upon whomever He chooses. This affirms His absolute authority and control over earthly kingdoms, regardless of their apparent might. Throughout the historical narrative of Daniel, we see various rulers and empires rise and fall according to divine providence. Thus, the truth of God's sovereignty is evidenced not just in historical accounts but also through the fulfillment of His eternal purpose, ultimately culminating in the everlasting kingdom of Christ, which shall never be destroyed.
