How do we know that God required the death of Jesus for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The death of Jesus was necessary to satisfy God's justice against sin (Romans 3:26).

God's justice requires that sin must be dealt with. In Romans 3:26, we understand that God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, demonstrating His justice and the necessity of the death of Christ. Since the soul that sins must die (Ezekiel 18:4), God could not simply forgive sin without satisfying His justice. This necessity underscores the gravity of Christ's mission; He bore the wrath due to us, fulfilling the divine requirement for redemption.
