How do we know that God uses affliction for our comfort?

Answered in 1 source

Affliction is seen as a means of instruction and correction that ultimately leads to comfort and growth in faith.

The Bible teaches that God's afflicting rod is a source of learning and spiritual enrichment. As noted in Micah 7:14, the rod instructs and teaches God’s people, helping them recognize their sins and understand God's nature. Additionally, Hebrews 12:8 emphasizes that God's discipline is a sign of His love, shaping believers into mature followers. Affliction, though challenging, purifies the heart and leads to a deeper reliance on God's grace, hence providing comfort. Believers are encouraged to recognize that what might initially appear as hardship is, in fact, God's loving hand guiding them toward a greater good.
