How do we know that God will draw near to us?

Answered in 2 sources

According to James 4:8, the assurance that God will draw near to us is a promise contingent upon our act of drawing near to Him.

The certainty that God will draw near to us is rooted in His unchanging character and the covenantal promise found in Scripture. In James 4:8, we see that God invites us to take the first step by drawing near to Him, after which He promises to draw near to us. This reflects God’s readiness to engage with His people and the relationship He desires to have with us. Throughout history, God has shown Himself faithful to those who seek Him earnestly, proving that He responds to our humble approach.
